Probly sounds a tad dramatic, but I'm serious.

It's been almost 4 years.

Excuses, spin jobs, empty promises, harassment lawsuits, and a 118-182 record.

And now the KG dream is *officially* over.

As far as I'm concerned, it's Kobe or Die.

Either Isiah steals him away from the Lakers, or we kick his incompetent ass to the curb by this time next year.

Nothing short of a superstar will bring respectability back to the Garden, and if Isiah is good at anything, it's reaching out to other teams' players.

Next summer we WILL have the assets to offer LA -- a huge Marbury expiring, young talent, and draft picks. (assuming the Garnett trade has set the bar).

In 2008 we can offer:

Kobe
Fisher/Radman

for

Marbury
Lee
Balkman
Collins/Nate
and 2 1st rounders

We'll HAVE the pieces.

Anything short of Kobe (or any superstar for that matter) next season and I'm off the bandwagon till I see this franchise is actually serious about winning...

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

It will really depend on how Lee and Balkman develop. If they both can produce high results this season, their trade value will rocket. I think even with Curry and Randolph, IT is going to make sure Lee gets at least 27 minutes a game. If he can improve on his numbers from last year, he should be a nice trade piece. The bigger question is with Balkman. I have no doubt that if he were given 25 minutes a game, he would average 10 points, 8 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 2 assists, and 2 blocks a game, which would be pretty good for a second year player getting less than 30 minutes a game. Unfortunately, we have Jeffries in the way of Balkman getting consistent minutes.

Simply put, we can make a competitive bid, but there is going to be alot of competition for Kobe. I would not put my hopes in it getting done. I am more interested in seeing what this team can do with the players we have, because there is alot of talent here. I think a smaller trade that balances the roster and consolidates our talent can have a big impact on the performance of this team. I would love to get Kobe, but this team should be able to have some success even if we don't get him.

I am NOT interested in "seeing what this team can do", b/c unlike homers, I can already see the writing on the wall.

We'll be a 36 win team, and in the lottery.....again.

Isiah will make excuses, and I'm sure Dolan won't fire him.

And we'll be stuck in mediocrity for the next 3 years.

What writing do you see on the wall? Kobe is not the only player in the league that can help this team get over the hump. Obviously, IT is going to go for Kobe, but a trade that brings in a solid all-around SG and a defensive-minded, shot-blocking C/PF would also go along way to balancing out this roster.

So basically, our young guys who probably wont be all stars, except MAYBE David Lee, for best player in the NBA, Kobe. No shot in hell that happens. We'd have to give them Curry or Zach for them to even possibly get on the phone with us.

If Kobe were here and we won 36 games, is that respectability?

Here is what will bring respectability.

Effort.

Wins.

No Excuses.

No more trades that put us so far over the cap we have no manageability.

Owning our own Lotto Pick if we're in the lottery.

I'd be excited with 36 wins and owning our own lotto pick because we'd be able to add another young player with the potential to develop.

Respectability is giving this group of young players a chance to either turn into winners or trade assets.

Lets see what Curry, Zach, Lee, Collins, Nate, Balkman, Chandler, Nicholls & Crawford can do together.

I'd much rather give this group a try, watch effort- than trade for a superstar diva like Kobe.

Kobe Envy

bobs - Kobe is a self-centered prick who makes the hated Marbury look like Mother Teresa. There is no reason for the Lakers to do that silly deal. They are not in the cap business, they are in the Superstar business of selling celebrity courtside seats.

You really think Jack Nicholson wants that trade?

get real

No to trading Lee, Collins or Balkman.

Kobe stays where he is.

boston offered up a potential 20/10/1.5 player for a 31 year old kg (along with all the other stuff).

lee is not 20/10...if we liken jefferson to amare, then lee is marion. and amare has more value than marion.

we don't have the pieces to get kobe unless we get a top 3 pick in the 2008 draft.

plus, would kobe want to come to an improving east now? kobe + curry or zach is not enough anymore after the boston deal.

One of the Picks was Minnys own they gave up with Wally. They got that one back. With Minny perhaps tanking, they needed that pick back.

Minny could rebuild in a few years with the real deal.

We don't have many picks left to trade, no expirings of note, and no blue chip kids. Lee is the closest and he is not franchise player.

The cycle will continue as long as management continues to make the same types of trades that have landed us in this mess from the very beginning... (not referring to your Kobe trade idea btw)

Kobe's got a huge ego... i can see him coming here just for the challenge of it... NY is the perfect place for him to play IMO.

I think Kobe, Zach, Marbury is a pretty good trio in this conference. Its not a better 3 than Boston, but I think even after giving up a lot of assets (Lets suppose its something like Curry, Lee, Crawford and Chandler), this team would be a lot deeper than the Celts. If the injuries pile up on Boston like they likely could, its at least an argument. The Celts wouldn't have players as good as QRich, Nate and Balkman in support.

Arrogant?

Does anyone really judge anyone's personality online?
