Oakley on the rebound?

Charles Oakley once said that he was like a butler; doing all the little things so that Patrick Ewing didn't have to. Well, believe it or Ewing's old butler is now 43 years old, he’s still in great shape and yes, he's not ruling out a comeback.

Oakley told the Toronto Star that he would consider a comeback, even with the Knicks, if the price is right. Oakley has been out of the league for three years.

"I'm not coming back cheap," he said. "If you read this article and you think you can get me cheap, there's another thought coming."

Oakley also claims that he’s working on a tell-all book.

"I'm not pulling any punches, true stories. It ain't one of those Charles Barkley fake books, it's a Charles Oakley book," Oakley said. "It's not an O.J. book, it's an Oakley book."

i work in the summer at the borgota in atlantic city and i see oakley all the time. he look like he lost a lot of weight and may not be in game shape. he is tall as hell though. we had nothing in our stores that would fit him.

I saw him also and he had lost a ton of bulk. Last season I was wondering what happened to his speaking ability.

I think its safe to say that oakley really doesn't like Barkley.

Remember when Barkley smacked oak all sneaky like on the court? Those guys had some battles. Barkley was clearly better but oak still got his regardless.

Considering the way he played just before retiring and considering that he's now 3 years older, I don't think he's going to have many takers - especially if he doesn't come cheap.

Agreed. Why does he think he'll get anything more than the league minimum. He should be happy if he gets signed at all.

Yeah I don't understand why Oak thinks he's in a position to get big money from anyone. At the same time I do think he has some value to a team that needs a guy to push some young players in practice (moreso than any ability he has to contribute in a game at this point).

Charles is done, but he got a book coming? Then he gonna say things to keep his name in the print. Its just business.
