DENVER (AP) - The Denver Nuggets to sign free-agent guard Brevin Knight

Knight averaged 9.1 points and 6.6 assists last year with the Charlotte Bobcats, not the best in his eight-year career.
"Brevin will be a great addition to our team," Nuggets vice president for basketball operations Mark Warkentien said Wednesday. "He is a proven veteran who can really pass the basketball."

Knight spent the 05-06 season Charlotte. He has averaged 12.6 points, 8.8 assists 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 steals in 69 games.

He shot .419 from the field in 45 appearances with the Bobcats last season.

"I'm very excited to be a Nugget," Knight said. "This is a great situation for me and I'm looking forward to winning a championship here in Denver."

Blake, who signed a free-agent deal with the Trail Blazers, averaged 8.3 points and 6.6 assists in 49 games with Denver last season.

Knight and AI in the same backcourt? Very smallish. Although Knights mentality is a good paring with AI.

they signed chucky atkins last week too.

but i guess with melo, nene, and camby - that may be enough defensively to compensate.

Good signing. Denver definitely improved with this one. Small backcourt, which could be interesting, though.

This rumor appears to be Bogus!

DENVER, Jul. 16 -- The Denver Nuggets have signed free agent G Chucky Atkins, team Vice President of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

“Chucky will be a great addition to our team,” said Warkentien. “He is a proven veteran who can really shoot the basketball. Our owner, Stan Kroenke, has once again demonstrated his commitment to winning.”

Atkins, 5-11, 185, joins the Nuggets after spending a season and a half with the Memphis Grizzlies. He averaged 13.2 ppg and 4.6 apg in 75 games in 2006-07 – both of which represent the second-highest averages of his NBA career. The eight-year veteran has averaged 10.8 ppg, 3.7 apg and 1.8 rpg in 599 games with Orlando, Detroit, Boston, L.A. Lakers, Washington and Memphis. Additionally, Atkins holds a career three-point shooting percentage of .370, including .369 (180-488) in 161 appearances with the Grizzlies.

“I’m very excited to be a Nugget,” said Atkins. “This is a great situation for me and I’m looking forward to winning a championship here in Denver.”

Ahh! Nice pickup, TB. I was very confused why people kept saying that Brevin Knight was available. In that case, Brevin would be an excellent fit for the Celtics.
