He'll get a lot more eyes on the games and that'll help them regardless of whether he plays well or not.

David Beckham still is a really good soccer player but I think that the expectations of the league... putting him out there like the Messiah is a sure thing to be disappointed!!!
Dont get me wrong he is a star but he is just one soccer player and in europe not even the best!!!
Wrong approach to the topic... by the league!!!

He's on the wrong side of 30, but its good overall for US Soccer. If his tenure here prooves succesful, it will only open the door for other well known europlayers to come over - it would add alot more credibility to the MLS and will be reminiscent of the days when the NASL had Pele, Chinaglia, Escandarien, Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto, etc etc.
the one key factor regarding all of them was, same as beckham, they made their names playing very good ball overseas, then came here for the twighlight of their careers. who cares though, they are fun to watch and add addt'l revenue stream and coverage to a great sport.

I don't think he will do anything more than get in some more SportsCenter highlights.

If they had a revote, I think she would.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Okay I've been thinking about this Beckham thing for a few days. I've been following him since the late 90's and have always found him pleasing on the eyes. But I think this US tour is not going to be successful in the sense that Americans will rank soccer among the big pro sports like basketball, football, and baseball. Hopefully it doesn't blow completely up in his face where he's headin back to the UK with his tail between his legs.
