There is going to be alot of fall out from the ref scandal. But one thing I wondered was how this will affect NBA officiating next year. What are your thoughts?
No change, refs will continue to call games same way
Refs will call games less strictly and be reluctant to make calls at the end of games
Refs will call games more strictly

I think there will be more tech's giving now that players in the heat of the battle will think they are getting bamboozled.

The question also so be how will this affect the MOB?

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

This is interesting view at this problem.
Still They will call it the same way.
Integrity of the game... Who cares?
Game is more about highlights and controversy so it should not affect the NBA much

David Stern should go to government and say I want betting on this sport banned. This wont happen in football--but basketball is not a huge bettors market. Government banned betting online cards--they should start sending message to sports anyway with the way things have been going out of control a bit here.

Making betting illegal is only good for mafia.
Do you think if betting were illegal this guy will have problems to get his money on black market?
He will get even more and it will be much more difficult to catch him.

What this is going to do is increase the salaries of the Refs. Yeah thats right its going to increase the salaries of the refs. Here is the logic behind this new NBA scandal. Its going to benefit the refs to protect the integrity of the game refs will need more money so they no longer need to bet on basketball games. They can get their thrill on football and baseball if they so wish. Now this is where its going to get tricky to be a NBA ref you are subject to random lie detector tests just like baseball has random steroid tests. This is the fall out of the few that did do steroids well now Refs should be treated in the same manner. Now refs will say this invasion of privacy and what not but if the money is right then the good refs have nothing to worry about.

Besides I don't think we will wacth basketball like we use to now its going to be wow did he really make that call he must have money on the game. Basketball is probably one of the most ref oriented games out there. they can pretty much call a foul on every single play. I think though this is the tip of the iceberg with the NBA you are gonna find out a lot more BS about the NBA, and Stern is right at the top of this rigging of basketball games. I remember when Phil Jackson said that the Spurs 1st championship should have a asterisk next to it because of the shortened season. Well I think a few of Jordan's and his titles need the same asterisk.

Stern must love him some Mike Vick right now...If not for Vick capturing the mainstream media attention, NBA credibility would be taking an even more devastating blow.

As far as officiating goes, Stern is arrogant enough to not make major changes...Suspicions like these have been floating around for years, and some NBA games have looked downright false --- Emperor Stern has continued to fiddle while the NBA has burned. Stern should have addressed the honesty of his officials instead of playing to close-minded conservatives with all of his dress code talk

Never been a huge Bill Simmons fan but that had to be one of his best articles. It is a must read. LOL - "NBA Hardwood Classics: The Tim Donaghy Collection."
