Scroll to the Bottom first and then scroll up.

As of June 2007 According to some guys Blog
http://blogs.msg.com/steve_popper/2007/06/jersey_surprise.html

Moved up a few notches but I think it has to do with his off-season shoe campaign, the playoff results some players produced and the draft was soon be held in New York City. Still not all that popular considering the large market he's in.

Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I find it comical that Wince Carter and Gilbert Arenas have him beat

As we can see his popularity isn't that high although the Knicks(large market) as a franchise do well, once again which is largely why Steph's jersey is doing well in sales.

Ummm...I dunno it seems like he's ranked pretty high there. Especially since he's not close as good a player as a bunch of the guys behind him.

Steph is pretty high up there for how bad the team is.

And also considering how much his own play has slipped over the last 2 seasons.

New Yorks popularity remained relatively high whereas Steph's was taking a more noticeable slide. Also take any player ranked 10-20 and place them in our market and they can fair just as well as Steph has.

There's more evidence that shows his popularity outside of New York is more than likely nill. Hence as to why his jersey was not a top seller in 2003 when he wasn't a Knick and he was a 20/8 player.

Who cares if he's not popular outside of New York. It's not like he's in the 10 or 15 best players in the NBA and people disrespecting his skills or something. He's not that great of a player, is on the decline, but yet he's still selling a ton of jerseys.

I fail to understand the purpose of this thread, who cares how popular Steph is or how many jerseys he sells. I think most here would agree, all they care about is how he plays and when he comes off the books. If your making this point to demonstrate that Steph really doesn't have the "Beckham" following he think he does, then I would understand at least where you were going with it.

Yeah this was a weird one to post.

LOL, another thing, if Lee's the most popular player on the team why wouldn't you just buy his jersey. There must be a lot of closet Marbury fans.

I think Trueblue's point is, if he weren't on the Knicks, his jersey sales would be MUCH lower. The Knicks make players popular, it's not the other way around. Sprewell and Houston would never be top 15 jersey sellers if they were playing at most other places.

Watch Marbury get traded to say, Detroit tommorrow, and notice he's barely in the top 30.

if true blue's point is 'if marbury weren't on the knicks, his jersey sales would be much lower', then why the hell is this being posted?

really? take marbury out of the biggest market in the NBA and he wouldn't sell as many jerseys?!?!??!

this is like making a post saying "if marbury shot more, he'd score more."

My hunch is TrueaBlue posted it because rembee (shockingly) didn't believe Steph's appeal had diminished over his stay here.

Ok, Knicks jerseys still sell really well.

Obviously many young kids and casual fans by a lot of jersey's.

So you gonna buy a knick jersey, how many are available in the mall and how many are desirable?

Q? Eddy? Jerome? JJ2?

I would think Nate, Balky and Lee sell very well, and the Starbury thing does add exposure to boast his sales. Almost by default, A marbury Jersey gets sold.

Maybe a "Zeddy" shirt would do well. Especially in Williamsburg!

Good Grief I can't believe the point was missed on this. Once again where were his jersey sales in 2003 when statistically he was arguably a Top 5 point guard in the league? Can anyone answer this question for me? Not to mention the noticeable slide in jersey sales from his own market. And no saying everybody already has a Marbury Knick jersey doesn't cut it because that would also apply to the other players who are ranked higher than him. He's arguably the best player in the Knicks who warrant the largest basketball market so that makes him a beneficiary more than anything else. Great point about Allan Houston and Sprewell being in the Top 15 and Top 10 respectively 4yrs ago when both of them were well on the other side of 30yrs of age and as you said that's because they donned the Blue N Orange.
