Guangdong Tiger chairman Chen Hai Tu said if Yi will not be traded to another NBA team then Yi will play in CBA next season. Dan Fegan has called 3 to 4 NBA teams. If the Bucks refuse to trade Yi, then Yi wont go to Milwauke and stay in CBA.

The article is saying the Bucks has no market ability
(key word that appeared many times in the article)

This is where David "the don" Stern should step in and flex his juice card and tell Yi's peeps to go back to China if you don't wanna play this yr.

Juice card? You do understand that China is the first new market the NBA has ever had, and is on course to being more profitable that the US is, don't you?

Stern will do everything in his power to make sure that Yi stays in the NBA. If that means another "Allan Houston clause" then so be it.

Maybe the Bucks should trade him. He had an awful summer league. While summer league success isn't a reliable indicator, when a hyped player doesn't produce against that level of competition, it's a good sign that he's overrated.

Yi shot 26% from the field and averaged 4.6 turnovers a game.

durant was terrible as well, classless move by the chineses officials to really dumby down the value, but i guess its the bucks fault for making the selection in the first place

I would love to see the NBA take a stance and have this guy sent back to China but I doubt it'll happen.

For the NBA, it has nothing to do with Yi and everything to do with the Chinese market. I bet Stern is more disgusted with the Bucks for putting him and the league in this situation since Chinese officials made themselves very clear that they didn't want Yi to be drafted by the Bucks.

I think Yi has a chance to be a good player in the league. Needs lots of work though, work that he can't get in China. He needs to play at the NBA level to improve.

i think he's going to be good... MIL knew the risks when they picked him... now they're reaping what they sowed... they will end up trading him to a team like GS or HOU imo... NY has a big Chinese population too, but any deal for Yi will have to involve D Lee & Balkman most likely, & I don't see Isiah making that trade.

I'm not sure one Chinese player means yes or no to the entire Chinese market. Yao is in the league, and as long as he is in the league, China's hooked on the NBA. There will most definitely be more guys coming out from China in the next few years regardless. I don't see how it matters as far as the Chinese market is concerned where this guy plays. They will still get his games televised in China, be it from Ohio or NY.

Looks like the guy's agent is just trying to flex his muscles and get into a better situation, the NBA should talk with the Chinese league and see if they can agree to punish this guy together.

Too bad Milwaukee does not employ Sprewell to market the City to Yi's masters. Yi is property of his handlers. That really does not come off very good in my book.

Bucks should have demonstrated some pride and not given him a second thought. There were other talented players who would have been more than happy to join their organizations. I find it so ironic that a US Senator with Kohl's voting record is now trying to convince a Chinese player to go along with a what is primarily a socialist economic and employment system.

BEIJING -- The Milwaukee Bucks' campaign to secure the services of reluctant power forward Yi Jianlian has suffered a blow after the player's Chinese club said it would block his move to the United States.


Yi, taken by Milwaukee with the sixth selection in the NBA draft last month, would "definitely not" play for Milwaukee, Tuesday's Beijing News quoted Guangdong Tigers chief, Chen Haitao, as saying.


"This is not -- as media reports have said -- because Milwaukee, as a city with very few Chinese people, is not good for Yi's commercial development," Chen said.


"Rather we want to find a team suitable for Yi's growth. That's the root of the problem," he added.


Earlier in July, Yi's Chinese agent said the unsigned player was looking to be traded to another club, despite pledges by Milwaukee officials to do whatever they could to make him feel at home.


Chen expressed concern that Yi would have trouble getting playing time with the Bucks, whose squad boasts Australian 7-footer Andrew Bogut and a number of other tall young players.


"The national team and the Olympic Games are now our key considerations ... If [Yi] goes to a team where he can't compete, that would be being irresponsible to the national team," Chen said.

I find it comical how fans have all this disgust toward Yi and his Camp yet we've experienced in recent yrs Steve Francis, Chris Webber, and I forget who else do the same thing. Yeah fans were a little ticked but you didn't hear stuff like "Send C-Webb and Francis to the CBA or overseas"! Fans wanted a trade consummated and all was good as long as the trade was good. If the NBA wouldn't have allowed this type of ISH to go on with Players totally running this league we wouldn't be experiencing this today. I'm glad Yi is attempting to pull the American way here. One of the most hypocritically ran countries in the world. I hope Yi flops on the Bucks and this will add to Stern's Black Eye record as a GM. Isles you are correct as usual Larry Harris is a moron for selecting him.
