i think he's the BEST college bball play by play man out there.
i also think he's highly underrated for football (once a week). but a friend of mine refuses to watch summer league b/c he's calling the games. it really is very tough... |

Posted by TRU: his energy level and enthusiasm is good in doses, but it's too overbearing (for me) for 2.5 hours 2-3 times a week for a regular season game. in the tournament, the stakes are much higher and the emotion level escalates, but during a feburary home game vs. the sixers, he still maintains that same energy level. |

"CRAWFOOORDDD 4 THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"!!!!!!!! I was like dude STFU it's the 5th game of the season. He was calling it like it was Game 7 of the Finals. People just love to hate anything to do with the KNicks. Gus is the man this guy lives and dies with each NYK play and you guys don't like it man I love every bit of his calling because he feels like the NYK fans do. Who remembers the Crawford play in Denver I hadn't heard a NYK announcer feel that way about a shot in sometime.

Posted by Vmart: i think folks are just saying that Gus would do better if he tempered himself once in a while. Dude is a homer all the time. Official sponsor of the PURE KNICKS LOVE Program

Posted by martin:Posted by Vmart: Mart, that's just foolish. He is who is. It's probably why he got his job. He's a homer, and it seems pretty genuine. If it's "over the top" for your taste, fine. But I doubt he's worried about "doing better". He's doing just fine being himself. Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

I like Gus as announcer, sure sometimes I think he's a bit over the top but thats ok, as long as its only sometimes. I think he's an absolute A++++ college basketball announcer, his energy is just great, especially during March Madness.

"CRAWFOOORDDD 4 THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"!!!!!!!! Correction it wasn't an overtime game which makes it a tad more comical "CRAWFOOORDDD LET'S IT GO 4 THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"......."HOLY MACKEREL"!!!!!! LMFAO @ him making that kind of call when we're 1-3 5th game of the season. [Edited by - TrueBlue on 07-15-2007 10:45 PM] LMFAO @ the Bio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephon_Marbury

no tru... seriously
anytime a shot like that is hit, any commentator would go nuts over it if yo look on youtube, theres a feed of the denver commentary from that game, and those guys went nuts too gus is a cool dude, hes a knick fan at heart, and his homerism maybe a bit over the top however, ive seen numerous occasions in which ive seen gus call out the team when they were playing poor ''We don't have the luxury to take anybody lightly,'' New York's Quentin Richardson said. ''We're not that good.''

Posted by TrueBlue:Posted by TRU:Posted by martin:Posted by Vmart: Nah, you're missing the point. Martin said Gus would "do better." What I think he meant is that he'd "like Gus better" if he toned down some of his enthusiasm. You can complain all you want if you don't like Gus. I mean, it's kinda girlish to be a complainer, but hey...
