NETS SIGN MAGLOIRE; MOORE LOST TO KINGS
By FRED KERBER

July 14, 2007 -- The Nets said goodbye to two big men while preparing to welcome another.
Free agent forward/center Jamaal Magloire last night agreed to a one-year deal with the Nets shortly after Mikki Moore, who responded with a career year when he stepped in for the injured Nenad Krstic, decided to sign with the Sacramento Kings.

Moore's move came just hours after the Nets, as expected, waived 40-year-old forward Cliff Robinson, whose time dwindled sharply last season. Robinson, a Net for 2 ½ seasons, received a $500,000 buyout.
The loss of Moore, who chose a three-year, $18 million offer from the Kings, left the Nets looking for another big man. They wasted little time in landing Magloire, a 9.0 ppg career scorer. It is believed Magloire will get $4 million for the one-year pact.

"Mikki is going to sign with Sacramento, it's a great situation. And Mikki is very grateful to the Nets for the opportunity they gave him and he responded with a great year," agent Mark Bartelstein said last night. "The Nets were somewhat limited because of luxury tax considerations. Mikki is going on 32 and this was a great financial package."

The Nets had offered Moore a three-year deal worth $11 million, but placed a deadline on the proposal. When the deadline passed as Moore scouted the market, the Nets withdrew the offer.

it seems like magloire's career has taken a dive the past two years. he was an all-star about three or four years ago and he is still young. nevertheless he is still a solid backup for the nets.

It's a good signing for the Nets. He's not the greatest, but he's an upgrade up front for them. It seems like many teams in the East are improving this year.

he likely starts next to Krstic with Boone and Sean Williams as the back ups.

playing with their all-nba wings should revitalize his career
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

4 mil for 1 year? That's a real nice contract to get him at, though I think big men with more mobility are a better fit for the Nets.

good for mikki more, 32 and is going to be able to set his family up financially. 18 mil is not the crazy azz ridiculous money clowns like rashard lewis is getting, but mikki really came a long way and EARNED that dough, he was a journeyman for years got in a good situation with the nets, worked hard, and now he is going to earn some real money. that is a good story....

Isn't this guy notriously slow? You'd think that's a bad match for the nets but maybe he's just a backup for them.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I think we'll see new wrinkles to Magliore's game when he's out there with Kidd and Carter.
Those two guys make it sooo easy. Magliore's a much more talented player than Moore.
