The bottom line--with his superior athletiscm strength and balls skills--if he hones everything in and continues down the path he has gone this summer---he should CLEARLY be our 20 minute back up PG. He can shoot hes fast with the ball he's passed VERY VERY well with good vision--the guy has been the MVP of this SL--and should be if we go 5-0 its about the W-L and Nate's impact was clear when he was NOT in the game.

I have to admit that Nate is looking better as a pg with every game but he has a long way to go before I would consider him a solid pg. Primarily, he needs to improve his recognition, which has improved somewhat, and cut down on the turnovers, which has only marginally improved. It is nice to see him make progress and the more he becomes a pg, the more value he brings on the court and in trades, so hopefully he can keep improving.

he should be able to become an early boykins- and that isn't anything to sneeze at.
But if you keep Nate, I think you need to consider upgrades elsewhere in the backcourt- Crawford/Marbury have too many weaknesses to also have to make up for Nate.

Wow, this is Nate's 3rd yr he shouldn't be playing with any fear like most SL players do.
When the reg season starts up Nate will be going up against a differntlevel of skilled shot blockers, perimitter defenders and better team defenses.
Just because he does well, it doesn't change his uncontrolled temperment of being a hothead and displaying the rucker style mentality once he's on the court going up against an oppossing scorer come reg season.
Nate's mental state is the most important thing effecting him come reg season.
Hat's off to him for the SL .
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I think next year, Nate is really going to tear it up in his 4th year in summer league.

I dunno...is he a better backup PG than Mardy. Nate is certainly looking good and I think he's a good player, but how would Mardy look in this summer league? I haven't seen anything that makes it a clear cut, yes, he should be the backup PG over Mardy.

One thing about N8. He makes one of the following of Crawford and Marbury expendable. He can do a little of what Marbs does (penetrate and kick or score) and he can shoot the long ball more consistently than Jamal.

That's my point- we can't have all three- because while each does some things well, all three have too many weaknesses to be cobbled together as a 'winning backcourt'

Nate has looked good but let's remember what kind of competition he's playing against. I'm not trying to be negative just realistic. This is summer league.

SUMMER LEAGUE GAMES ARE EQUIVALENT TO PLAYING HORSE IN YOUR DRIVEWAY WITH YOUR SISTER!
Get It,
Got It,
Good!
Then whats the point of watching? You got something better to talk about
You can watch there's nothing wrong with that just don't show up on a message board forum pumping your chest out over the games and players after doing so.

Briggs, I was thinking about this. While I don't think our youth has too many pure studs, necessarily, I do think our youth has a lot of energy, players who do something our vets don't... put out a consistent effort every night, play hard.
Frankly, if you shed the dead weight on this team, lost for another two years while our youth got experience, had time to add another few players who fit the system... I think we'd be in good shape.

How are we going to shed EDOPLH & EXSTACYBURY?

Nate is too talented to be some throw-in in trade proposals which I have seen often here. He's a scoring guard who can make pg-like-plays.
He averaged about 17 over the last month of the season and had some explosive scoring games for us (34, 24 twice etc) He improved on his scoring avereage last yr, shooting % and cut down on his turnovers. Yes he's still immature, but he brings the same intensity/energy that Balk and Lee bring to the floor. Without that edge, he's not the same player. Its up to Isiah to find a spot for Nates unique skills to help us rather than trying to make him into something he is not.
