For those that were wondering where in the world is Qyntel?
Woods In Contract Talks With Several Top Euro Clubs
July 11, 2007 - 2:18 pm
Christopher Reina/RealGM -
NBA veteran Qyntel Woods is currently in ongoing contract discussions with high-level European teams, Efes Pilsen (Turkey), Olympiakos (Greece), Bologna (Italy), Malaga (Spain) and Prokom (Poland) after participating in a private workout in Las Vegas on Tuesday at the Abunassar Impact Basketball gym.

Woods, (6-8, 225) last played in the NBA in 2005-06 for the New York Knicks where he averaged 6.7 ppg on 51% FG shooting in 20.7 minutes per game for coach Larry Brown.

The workout and discussions were confirmed to RealGM by Andy Bountogianis, Director of Worldwide Basketball for basketball agency Mark Termini Associates of Cleveland, Ohio.

Representatives of the Detroit Pistons were also in attendance on Tuesday, and workouts are planned for Woods with additional NBA and European teams this week in Las Vegas.

It is believed that if Woods finalizes an agreement with any of the European clubs, the deal could be in excess of $1M USD.

Thanks for posting that. It seemed like he disappeared off the face of the earth after the 2005/06 season.

Thanks. Nice to know what happend to him, but it still seems strange that he could not make it with an NBA team. The kid has the skills to be a decent role player.

For example- after 2005-2006, who did you think was and would be a better player, Woods or Ariza?

I think most people thought woods outplayed Ariza and had the potential to be, at least, a backup SF for us. That's why it is so shocking that no team in the NBA was willing to give this guy a chance. He is still fairly young. Something must have happened over that summer that is still not public knowledge.

Yup. A lot of people made the argument that giving up Ariza for Francis wasn't that big of a deal cause Woods was better anyway. Hard to argue with that with the way both played that year. Woods showed a good shot, some really nice slashing and finishing ability and some pretty good rebounding b/c of his hops.

NBA is a JOB. It's hard
Not all people can work hard. Some can only play. So people end up with different results.
Some built Dynasties, some going to jail. Nothing to do with hoops.

Isiah is just stashing him in Europe for a year or so, then he'll be rejoining the Knicks.
