The one thing that stood out to me as a *unit* much more so than individual play was the speed and length we were able to disrupt Seattle with. I kind of envisioned 4 long quick players to go along with curry which would promote speed AND power. I like Zach and Q but can we play the same way with those guys? That was the downside to the trade from people who are not just looking at the talent level. SA really has 3 really good players with role players--thats the ticket for most championship teams. You see that speed out there and thast is where I thought the team was going. Maybe a Kirelenko inevitably wouyldve been a better fit @ 4 than Randolph for this team.

I just don't see the Knicks as a running team or a high tempo team. I see them as a team that picks its spot to run. For the KNicks to pick up the tempo they need a more versatile pg and Marbury isn't that anymore. But I agree with you that the Knicks have increased the athleticism of the team.

I only see the knicks as a cohesive unit when either guy is on the floor, not both ala Marbury/Franchise. Effective 4/5 combo's would seem to include Lee/Curry and Zach/Morris (after his feet get wet). With Q , Crawford, and Marbury -- and Nate, Mardy, and Balkman. I don't see Chandler getting burn early.

I think Zach will help big time because last year guys often double teamed off Frye and Jeffries but I think starting Dlee and having Lamar Odom at the sf would have been an interesting maybe better way to go also.

didn't isiah talk about getting long and athletic?

Basically all the guy's he's drafted have been of that ilk

Ariza

Frye- not so athletic
Nate- not so tall, but fast
Lee- Hustle
Balkman- long
Collins- long
Chandler- long
Nichols- long

You're right about the Zach deal not making sense in this regard.

I bet one of the better units for us would be this combo line up

Curry or Zach @ Center
Lee @ the power forward
Balkman/Chandler as your SF
Nichols/Crawford as your SG
Collins/Crawford as your PG

that would be my 8 man rotation right there.

The thing about Zach is that he gives you a guy that can do more than Frye. Unlike Frye, Zach is quick enough, has decent enough handle to take his man off the dribble and since he can shoot from just about anywhere, his man is helpless when he fakes. I think people really need to stop pushing this idea that Zach is another big plodder like Curry. The guy is quick and agile for his size. Anyone who would do a 720 as one GM mentioned and actually score on it is not a big lump. He get's up and down the floor faster than people are making it seem. Heck even Curry isn't really slow getting up court and I believe Zach is faster. Since Zach boards so well, when Curry is out of the game the Knicks can indeed run more. We'll probably see more of what we saw in the past when our quick guys come in the pace picks up.

This is the eastern conf, run and gun teams are hiding flaws playing that way in the EC

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
