This could be why he was labored for the last game. Maybe this will change the minds some of those folks who jumped all over him after two games.

Report: Blazers' Oden getting tonsils removed
FOXSports.com, Updated 4 hours ago STORY TOOLS:

It looks like top pick Greg Oden had a pretty good excuse for laboring on the court. His airway is constricted by a pair of swollen tonsils.

The Blazers are expected to send their young star back to Portland to have his tonsils removed, ending his Summer League play, according to a report in The Oregonian..
Oden isn't 100 percent sold on the surgery and will discuss it with his mother before making a decision later this week.

"Right now, it's more of a thing that they are so big, that when I'm running up and down the court, it's hard for me to breathe. I can't get any air in there," Oden told the paper.

Oden's play in two games so far has been a mixed bag. He's racked up 19 fouls, 19 points and seven rebounds in the two contests, but was noticeably struggling to keep up.
NY KNICKS 4 EVER! Will we ever find players like Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniels, Patrick Ewing again? I hope so.

I know but some folks were saying he was a bust based on his two preason games only. I agree he did get winded a lot in college. Conditioning could possibly help or he may be one of those guys who can't play 48 minutes a night. Which is kind of tough for a center anyway.

If the swollen tonsils were the size of golf balls then obviously he's had them for a while.

Any chance you are reading that statement a bit too literally?

Thats just because people were let down after so much crazy hype. Some people said he would for sure be better than Shaq, Patrick and Robinson. No way the kid can live up to that kind of hype. He will be good but some people had him as the best center of all time before he played a game.

NO!
All the while, Oden was playing with tonsils that Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard said were the size of golf balls. Because of that, Oden's breathing was hampered, limiting his stamina.

Yeah Odens tonsils were the size of golf balls just like Patrick Ewings ankle blew up to the size of a basketball.

Sometimes people exagerate a touch.

Someone needs to tell Greg he can afford to have his golf balls profesionally cleaned.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.
