Here's the post. I didn't hear the show myself.
Yeah, Zach was scheduled to speak to Steve Summers on WFAN today but Zach Randolph blew him off. Summers went on about how that was really disrespectful and how he let Knicks fans down.

Zach has asked that we not judge him by his past. That's ok. I'm all for giving a guy a fresh start. But this doesn't bode well. I supported the trade and still do, but Zach definitely has something to prove regarding his character.

And the Bottom Line is...
Steve Somers has more bottom lines than Eddy's boxer briefs.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

First off, there is no way we can know for sure if this story is accurate, since we are basing this on third hand information. If this poster on RealGM is posting information accurately, it's still possible Somers could be exaggerating the story, and as a sports talk host ego's usually are quite bloated. Where is the reported reason why Randolph didn't do the interview? Because he "blew him off?" That's not an answer that reveals anything.

It could very well be true that Zach did not want to do the interview, but it seems pretty silly to see this as "disrespectful." I could personally care less about what Somers thinks because doesn't know JACK about basketball based on what I have heard. Maybe we need to know more information before we start believing anything about this story.

ike, just b/c the guy doesn't know as much about bball as others, doesn't mean he's silly to see it as disrespectful. not for nothing but somers has been around a long long time on ny sports radio. we don't have all the info but a "no show" is alot different than "cancelling." i'm sure many players (in all sports) have cancelled but a no show is a sign of unprofessionalism. that's like sleeping in without calling your boss.

listening to somers - he's not a vindictful guy. the guy likes to have fun with everything...so if he actually got a little serious or disrespectful, then i would think he really felt that way. this isn't like the maddog or francesa who feel they are above everyone else and like to take a view and run away with it. it's the shmoozer.

ultimately, whatever happened...it doesn't matter. all fans care about is what you do for me on the court.

Was Steve going to ask him questions that we already knew the answers to. Common the Newspapers already covered Zach in detail and so did MSG. They asked him about the past and got answers to it and they asked him about the future with the Knicks and got answers to it. I really didn't see the need to even ask him to do an interview at this point in time. Maybe steve and wfan can ask him to do interview during training camp. Be honest that is when I want the scoop on the KNicks.

I used to listen to Steve all the time, but I really never felt he was a good interviewer. He has all that schtick and no deep questions. It's kind of a waste of time. Especially for someone that doesn't get that style of humor and can't play along. I get the feeling Zach wouldn't get most of what Steve was saying. That kind of interview is best done by one of the other hosts.

Why does any of that matter? Zach's handlers arranged an interview and he was apparently a no show. That's disrespectful and unprofessional. Plain and simple.

For a guy who just a couple days ago spent his parole...I mean press conference, talking about how he's mature now and wants a "clean slate", this isn't exactly a good start.

Shockey did the same thing and is now banned from WFAN talk shows. Shockey's still a valuable player.

I don't care much about how our players treat talk radio personalities.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Stop programming yourself to apologize for everything. It's really getting out of hand. It's unprofessional to be a no show especially without explanation.

Stop programming yourself to antagonize over everything. It's really getting out of hand. It's unprofessional to accuse anyone especially without having both sides of the story.

Shockey did come on a few times, but had plenty of disagreements with Mike and the Mad Dog and eventually started no showing.

Not good form for Zach to miss his first interview with the top NY sports radio session. Once he makes a bad first impression on the media, he's basically placing a target on his back. If things go sour quickly this year he's gonna start taking hits...

Yea, as a player in NY the last thing you want to do is piss off the media. They are relentless in making you look bad.
