we know that every summer we have a list on a certain topic. lets start with our current top three knick players.

3.) stephon marbury- though a LOT of people do not like him, i thought this year was one of his best in a knicks uni ( definately not statistically though). he showed improving leadership qualities and his defense has improved. though i still wonder if he is a loser since he directed the team to another losing season.

2.) jamal crawford- i think he is the most exciting and even though his point avg. is the same, i thouhgt he has improved in his game. when he first came to the knicks he just gunned from outside. but now he will drive and score in the paint or initiate contact. plus there is no other person on the team that i would rather give the ball to with the game on the line than him.

3.) eddy curry- i was rooting for him during the larry brown era. i thought that he had talent but needed motivation. thomas certainly motivated him by labeling him the "go to" player and with his first year with that tag i thought he did a good job. his post moves are incredible for a person his size and even when he is triple teamed i have seen him score. he is no longer just a dunker. other parts of his game needs to improve obviously but i for one do like the progress he is exhibiting.

honorable mention: david lee- love his tenacity but he was injured most of the season

Lee, Balkman, Collins

Everyone else showed frequent laziness, or primadona behavior, or disinterest or unwillingness to improve. Stephon Marbury really improved, but it seems to be a bit too little, too late!

Based on how they play,

1) Lee
2) Balkman
3) Q Rich

Based on where my "heart" is

1) Lee
2) Marbury (I've always thought he was a good guy and wanted him to succeed)
3) Zach (I'm really hoping he turns his character issues around)

Oh my bad, forgot about Q-Rich, but I guess that happens when you're so injury prone.

Balk
Collins

Zach probably breaks that list this season but I'm going to have to watch him play for awhile before I make up my mind.

The rest of the players I would like to have on my team with the exception of Curry and Crawful.

To be honest, I have issues with everyone else. Q would be No. 2, if not for his back. I respect what Marbs did last year, but still wish we had a consummate PG. The young guys (Collins, Balkman) can make the list with a strong soph season. Curry is way too flawed. Ditto for Crawford. Randolph has to do it in a Knick uni and stay out of trouble.

1- Lee: Just a great hustling guy leaving it on the court every game... great finisher on the break
2- Balkman: See Lee... plus he just is the best humpty dance imitation...
3- Marbs: Well yeah I know but he could do so much if he wanted
4- Curry: I like how he responded when he was dealt the responsibility!
5- Mardy: Great performances during when he got PT
