It's all people dude. Here's another thing I hate. When YOU are holding a door open for someone, and maybe their like 10-15 feet away, and they take their absolute sweet time to come to the door and then they don't even say thank you or acknowledge your presents. Bastards.

Yep, that is the worst. I always say to that inconsiderate person (sometimes under my breath, depending on how large that person is): "Oh, you're welcome."

I understand what Eny is talking about. Visualize this, Imagineyou are pulling out of a driveway without looking where you are going and then stop in the middle of the road. Stand for approximately 3 secs then start to turn right. Afeter a bried moment of clarity, haul a u-turn and go the other way.

Now, observe in front of any major retail store in NYC. See what happens when people step out of a store. I have developed an instride side step (akin to Barry Sanders' lateral running techniques) to avoid such encounters. I think a key part to the equation is that the street has to be crowded. My guess is that since the majority of sidewalk traffic is headed in one direction or the other depending of the time of day, people step out and fall into the pack naturally and then need to reconsider where they are headed.

Gotcha. Yes, I have definitely observed this. Women are generally crazy. With apologies to the women on this board, 98% of the things they do make no sense when you really think about it. This is one example.

What you are observing is the difference between men and women. On average, men are better at spatial-type thinking, and women are better at communication/socializing. Also, the corpus callosum is much thicker in women than in men - this is the connection between the left and right hemispheres. So men are better at specializing in left-brain or right-brain tasks, and women are better at integrative, multi-modal type things. Of course, individuals of a given gender can be very different than the average.

When a dollar makes its way into a woman's hands it needs to be immediately spent or they go nuts. So, from what I'm told, the pause is merely the thinking of where else to spend the money that they don't have. In other words, something like this: "Do I have enough room on my credit card to buy anything else? Well, Discover isn't maxed out... and ahh yes, another store is having a sale, 25% off if I spend 50% more than I should. What a great deal!"
