Given that he is such an offensive force, I would think that past coaches would have needed him to focus on offense. But now that he is matched with Curry, would it be possible that Isiah would ask Randolph to focus on defense more?

I sure hope so. Any improvement on defense for our team would be welcome.

You shouldn't have to ask anyone to play defense. It's part of the game.

He played on a team that had a young sheed and pippen etc. Straight up stacked Portland team. He was better than all of them. He played defense then. At the very least he blended in well with closing lanes and putting a body on guys.

He is a good player. He's not gonna let a dude fly by him untouched. Best believe if a guy scores he will come right back on the other end and give it back.

Not according to Larry Johnson. Said he was never asked to play defense by the Hornets. He revealed this nugget after he was traded to the Knicks.

Well he did put his arms up once. Right there that makes him twice the defender that Curry is.

Although he might have just been mocking his coach when he told Zach to put his arms up on defense.

Anyone think this is a logical progression

Year 1 - Curry shows offensive flashes but fouls out within 10 min of every game

Year 2 - Curry dominates on offense, plays carefully on defense so that he can stay on the court, but defense suffers

Year 3 - Curry continues to dominate on offense, but learns how to play more consistent defense?

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Not when you consider that the story is 6 years long and he hasn't played defense in any of those years.

The best combo of Fowards & a Center in a while was Prince, Wallace & Wallace.

Prince - smart, excellent man to man as well as help defender, can guard 2s & 3s, and could also knock down the 3.

Sheed - excellent man to man defender & help defender, can guard 3s & 4s, very skilled can score inside & outside, post up & draw doubles or shoot 3s.

Wallace - defensive anchor, shuts down the lane, forces opponents out of the paint. Owned the boards on defense, as well as gets his team a lot of 2nd chances.

The portland team in 03-04 when they came on very very strong down the stretch to win 41games and just miss the playoffs after a horrible start. They had Darius Miles, Rahim, Randolph, Ratliff. They had great balance between those 4 from 3-5.

that was when ratliff averaged over 4 blocks a game after the trade - he damn near was the best defensive player in the league for those 2-3 months.

You had Ratliff averaging 4.4blks & Darius Miles with his athletism & length causing complete havoc on the perimeter. Though he was bascially only playing for a new contract. Then you had Rahim playing SF/PF & Randolph playing PF/C both causing matchup problems because they both could put the ball on the floor.

Watch out for Golden State next season. They have Biedrins, Harrington, Wright(from Bobcats) & Jackson.

Biedrins can anchor the defense. Harrington, Wright, Jackson could all play defense as well as put the ball on the floor.

Tomas to Eddy and Z-Bo:
"Guys I promised in press that we will concentate on defense... Are you with me"
Eddy:
"Hmmm. I will do my best"
Zack:
"Sorry chiff... I have my girlfriend on the phone..."
Tomas:
"OK... Hmmm... Just try not to be in the way of our guys when opponents will run the fast break..."
