According to a league source, the Kings recently contacted Orlando about Hedo Turkoglu. The small forward, entering his eighth season, began his career in Sacramento in 2000 and was part of a three-team trade in 2003 that sent him to San Antonio.

The source would not go on record for fear of repercussion.

The most likely King to be offered in a deal would be small forward Ron Artest, whose $7.8 million salary for the 2007-08 campaign is close enough to Turkoglu's $6.3 million salary to fall within the parameters of the collective bargaining agreement. Turkoglu has two seasons remaining on his contract and a player option for a third, while Artest has two seasons left on his deal but holds an early termination option for next summer. Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie did not return a call seeking comment

This would be a smart move for Orlando. You add Artest and Lewis and Orlando becomes a dangerous team. Turkoglu is a solid player and has only 2 more years on his deal, but the Knigs would have to at least get a draft pick for it to be worth it for them. I can see this one happening.

So the Magic want to add another SF. Hmm... That could be a bad fit there. I don't see SVG as someone who can reign in Artest.

Artest and Lewis are both SFs. Are they going to play Ron at the 2?

I would imagine that Artest would play at the 2 and Lewis at the 3.

Yep. SVG would consider adding a premier defender such as Ron. Miami is rumored to have strong interest. So really Ron could play as a 2 and did so much for the Kings last yr when Martin wasn't on the floor. As we've seen with Phx and even GSW teams these days can run unconventional line-ups and have success.

Well if all they want is the Turggy, then we can trade the expirings for him and get artest in a three way................ in about 57 days.

maybe it's a precursor to a 3 way deal where Artest comes to the Knicks, Hedo goes to SAC, & some assets from the Knicks goes to ORL.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

gee- didn't we give orlando enough cap room.

I believe if isiah had any interest in adding artest, he would have already put a call in and offered something to sac & sac wouldn't be calling up orlando.

I don't think Isiah wants any part of artest.
