Artest Homeward Bound?
July 3, 2007 - 9:59 am
New York Post -
Ron Artest is available and could be the final big piece to fill out the Knicks' starting lineup at the small forward spot.

Isiah Thomas has 17 Knicks on his roster, which is two above the league limit, making another trade a virtual guarantee. The contracts of Dan Dickau and Fred Jones cannot be combined in a trade for two months, so Thomas is currently shopping Jared Jeffries, Nate Robinson and Randolph Morris.

"I've been active and we'll continue to be active," said Thomas. "I don't consider this a finished product by any stretch," he added later.

Reversing an earlier decision, Thomas may still use this year's mid-level exception to add a shooter or defender.

Asked if he thought the Randolph acquisition made the Knicks a playoff team, Thomas said, "I think it should."

Artest is a god damn psycho and the thought of having him on Randolph on the same team is mindboggling, yet he is a good player and exactly what this team needs with the no-D frontcourt. Quite the conundrum. Sadly, I think I'd sign off on it because I want a decent team on the court and Artest would greatly help us get to that point.

LOL.

1) I thought Randolph Morris was a lottery pick. We giving up on him already?
2) "I think it should." Goddamnit man, not even the GM is willing to assure that
the roster he's been working on for 4 years is playoff ready?

This is New York media speculation. I do not listen to what the New York media says anymore. Most credible sources come outside New York.

Cookd, 99% of these rumors just don't happen just as 99% of the rumors here don't happen. Just gotto wait and see what happens. Isiah seems to be building a win now team. Dolan is getting quite impatient.

The reason why so many false rumors here is because we have 4+ major newspapers that need to sell papers. They are under orders to basically make up what they can in order to sell papers. Outside of NY they actually do research before writing the article. There are always exceptions however.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

i would trade for artest.

i would trade the two expirings along with nate and balkman and throw-in morris to boot. tough to see the kings getting a better offer than 3 borderline 1st round picks for him.

i think an ALL IN strategy is the way to go with this team.

Ok, rephrase. When will it be fair to judge this team without the excuse of gelling or waiting for the follow up trade to happen?

When the building stops collapsing upon assembly of the third floor.

Artest's contract is manageable & he fills a need on this team... i think he makes sense for us as long as we don't have to give up Curry or D Lee in the process.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

It's just funny as hell to read these boards sometime. Going to complain Zeke isn't guaranteeing the playoffs right now when dozens of you would have jumped on him the second he did.

If we could get Ron for JJ2/Nate/Morris, I would jump for joy, but that's not happening.
Artest is a gamble, he is NOT option A, but if you can get him for cheap, you have to try.

Dude, with the size of $$ commitments on this roster that IT has made, he BETTER believe it can make
the playoffs, otherwise, WTF is he doing?! His starting 5 have enough salary for the whole salary cap!
And there is lots more $$ on the bench.

I love Artest and still cringe anytime I think about how Layden could have drafted him. However, Isiah has already coached Artest and struggled to control him. I do not think Isiah will make a move for him. I think he knows how unstable Artest is and that he will not be able to get through to him. When it concerns Isiah he is a big picture guy and actually has a plan. Artest could sabotage Isiah's authority.

layden wasn't here when he was in the draft.

ed tapscott was the interim gm who made the selection before layden was hired.

I say we pass on Artest. The guy simply is too unstable. I mean it is not like the Kings have an abundance of talent but they are willing to just give the guy away. Randolph is much less of a risk but he is still a risk. Why fill the team up with risky character guys?
