Nash fan of Randolph deal

UNION – Steve Nash is a fan of the Knicks' recent trade for big man Zach Randolph.

"He adds about 20 points and 10 rebounds off the bat," said Nash, who was in New Jersey at the Steve Nash Nike Skills Academy at Kean University. "He's a great low-post scorer. He has a good mid-range shot and he can rebound offensively, so he's going to give them a lot. They don't grow on trees, guys that can give that to a team."

Nash spent three days instructing 22 of the top prep point guards and 10 of the premier college point guards in the nation. Among the New Jersey players invited to the event were Paterson Catholic rising senior guard Jordan Theodore, who has committed to Seton Hall, and St. Patrick junior guard Dexter Strickland.

Knicks GM Isiah Thomas pulled off a draft-day trade that sent Steve Francis and Channing Frye to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for the 6-foot-9, 260-pound Randolph, as well as guards Fred Jones and Dan Dickau.

As for his own team's playoff loss to the eventual champion San Antonio Spurs, Nash said it was disappointing.

"It was obviously frustrating not to win a championship this year and it hurts a little bit," he said. "But at the same time, you have to worry about next season and putting that behind you and getting ready to go back out there."

Nash also said he was doubtful that the Suns would actually trade star forward Amare Stoudemire (who ran his own Nike Big Man Academy in Phoenix) for Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

"I think that those things are all talk," he said. "Big trades these days are so difficult to pull off. Every team at this stage of this season is going to be open to talking about things, but the reality is there's probably not a lot in it."

Nash is a fan of the nyc area. I think he is a closet knick fan too. He spends his off season in nyc. I saw him play in riverside park and there is a park on the lower east side he is known to pop up in all the time.

Maybe he will coach here down the road.

I don't think he is in the closet about it. He said the Knicks were one of the teams he rooted for in college. One of Grunfeld's biggest mistakes was not moving up in the draft to get a guy that you liked and who liked your organization.

Nash said Marbury is THE BEST POINT guard on a playground. So What!

Jason Kidd said Franbury would work! Did It?

Steve Nash is a known comedic clown and I wouldn't put it past him to be goofing on us, because something makes me think Kidd was.

What does Steve Nash know?
He is only a 2 time nba MVP.
How can his NBA knowledge compare to a lame never done anything guy who tries to peddle knock off kicks on the internet or a guy in his 20's that is 5 foot 4 inchs, 115 pounds and cant even get hard to satisfy his "girlfriend"?
Obviously Nash knows nothing compared to those to clowns.

Nash is a polite NBA guy who would not say anything negative against any team. Its just good business to promote the league and create interest.

Larry Brown, tne nastiest of coaches would never talk down against other players or teams. Just his own!

Really, Kidd complimenting Franbury was just good business, nothing more.

I find it very hard to believe that you did not jump for joy and scream like a 12 yr old girl when the Marbury trade was made. Ok maybe that was just me, but the majority of the New York loved that trade.

You can believe what you want but I did not like it at all at that time and said so.
I was against giving up Lampe and Milos (ended up wrong on that), as well as taking Pennys contract back.

Idk just the idea of getting a 26 yr old 2 time all star who avg 20 and 8 throughout his career (only Oscar Robinson did that) got me excited.
