trade our #9 pick (and our second second round pick if we have to), assuming we don't get into the top 3 with seattle for their #12 and #14 pick. we send Pick #9, 39 to seattle for Picks #12, 14 to NY
do the trade, get picks 12 and 14
don't trade, keep pick 9

reason why:

there's no one who is going to be available at pick # 9 who we're going to be saying, this is our guy, period.

there's a lot of guys who'd be OK to have.

imagine getting two of the following 4 (two of these guys should be around by picks 12 and 14):

x-Mickaël Pietrus 6-6 200 SG/SF (France) 1982
x-Pavel Podkolzin 7-4 300 C (Russia) 1985
Sofoklis Schortsianitis 6-9 280 PF (Greece) 1985
Leandrinho Barbosa 6-3 190 PG (Brazil) 1982

we get two of these guys, and we're suddenly a team with hope, because we could have some combination of two of the following:
a) we get a huge center with potential
b) a "super athlete" in pietrus
c) a PF who is 17 and still growing and could be our center one day
d) a pg who has game, size, athleticism and talents (we could then trade milos away to let say Sactown for Hedo; something like that)

Back around the turn of the century, when throngs of immigrants came through Ellis Island, many people were given new names to make the transition easier.

Maybe we could do something like that for these young players.

Mickaël Pietrus - Mike Peters
Leandrinho Barbosa - Lenny Bosa
Pavel Podkolzin - Peter Parker
Sofoklis Schortsianitis - Eddie Shorts

Okay, so maybe it's a bad idea, but it's two weeks just to see who wins the lotto picks, and we're running out of stuff to talk about.

Case, I like your idea. A trade with Seattle could be a real possibility. We could also make Radmonovic part of the deal, giving up Kurt and Ward and taking back Booth, Potapenko, or James (we'd have to). Get rid of a power forward and get back some youth and a backup center. If we trade down we will lose our shot at Barbosa and the Greek kid ... whose now 6'10 280, with some muscle. Just some thoughts.. the Sonics will be willing to part with Radmonovic for a post presence.

For a second there I thought you were going to say Eddie Lee Wilkins.
