If it doesn't work out, Jordan will contemplate his next move. He denied he has had preliminary talks with his friend Robert Johnson, who owns the new Charlotte franchise, but he knows there are others who would gladly take him on.

"My loyalty is to Ted Leonsis, to Abe Pollin and to D.C.," Jordan told the Post. "Now, if things don't work out in D.C., and I really want them to, then I may have to explore other options."

--------

I know it's been said that jordan might go to charlotte, but what about jordan here, in nyc?

although i think he's possibly a worse GM than Layden (can it be possible?), because he stifles his talent and players don't like to play for him.

No. He wouldn't want to be here, and no one wants him here. Why would anyone want this guy as a GM? He's not a GM. Just because a guy was a great player doesn't make him a lock for coaching or GM duties. It's an entirely different set of skills.

Jordan? Nah. Let him mess up someone else's club. While he definitely got the fans coming back in DC, they still haven't been in the playoffs since Jordan himself knocked them out in 1996. He chased Rip out of town and got Stack (who is apparently a bad seed to have around a team). Rip's still playing (and he's done well), while Stack is unhappy as can be. The whole team is unhappy.

Jordan is not a "nice guy". He has always had a reputation for rubbing people's faces in it, but he could always get away with it because he's such a tremendous player. It's hard to be motivated at work when someone berates you every day, even if the guy is one of the greatest ever.

Jordan picked Kwame Brown over PFs Chandler, Gasol, Radmanovic, Troy Murphy, Zach Randolph. In hindsight, he'd take any one of those guys at PF over Brown. Not that I think Brown is bad, just that Jordan blew the top pick. Worst number 1 selection since Joe Smith.

I'd rather keep Schmayden. That sums up what I think of MJ the GM.

Not Z.Randolph....

I do agree Jordan didn't help the Wizards ball club because of the reason you stated.....I always said they would be better without him. I would like to see how Stack/Brown/Hughes handle the pressure next year

Joe Smith put up decent numbers in GS his first two or three years.

Again, not saying he's bad, but he's pretty average for a top pick. The top pick should be an immediate impact player. Okay, I forgot that Olowokandi was a top pick. Not bad, but if the top pick is not great, then you picked wrong.

Check out this list: http://www.nba.com/draft2002/history/one_picks.html

Very few non-greats on that list. Just saying MJ made a weak pick, and that's the kiss of death for a GM.

I think kwame is more talented than he's been letting on... did you watch his games early this season? he had like 6 blocks per game a few times, etc.

i agree with you DefandRob a impact player like troy murphy should have been the top pick.
i tried to think of something to criticize MJ about but then i realized i couldn't find anything. the man filled seats in Washington
all those years as a fan and now i'm the anti-knick. life is crazy aint it.

Har har. Still, Murphy had a better season than Kwame. Murphy would have gotten Most Improved Player had it not been for his teammate Arenas.

You must be kidding about MJ. Yeah, they love him in DC, too. They just fired him!

Unfortunately, the seat-filling was temporary. I foresee a wholesale clearing out in the District.

Definitely. When the season started, I thought DC would challenge for ECF. Boy, did my mind change in a flash!

Yes, I believe Kwame's best days are still ahead of him. When he doesn't have MJ browbeating him, and he gets a good coach (Sorry, Mr. Collins, you seem like a good guy, but MJ picked you to be his "yes" man), he'll be much, much better. I still don't think he, Olawakakaka (don't feel like spelling it right), or Smithee are top pick material.

I agree that it may be hard for MJ to remain with the Wizards because of what took place on and off the courts this past year. i think Pollin made the right choice and at the same time i really don't think that MJ wanted to come back to Washington anyway.

I had to crack a smile because i also thought they could win the East.
i keep reading where Byron Russell played for the Wizards but i don't remember even seeing him on the court.

Yeah, I think MJ kept him around to remind him of that last shot in 1998.

MJ: "Hey, Bryon, rememeber how bad I made you look?"

BR: "Yes Michael."

MJ: "You know I'm the greatest player ever."

BR: "Yes Michael."

MJ: "Wanna see me make you look bad again?"

BR: "Uhhh ..."

MJ: "HEY, EVERYONE! Watch me make Bryon look bad like I did in '98, when I got my 6th ring and Bryon got to go home with NOTHIN'!"

BR: "Ohhh, okay, you're the boss"
