The trade is an intriguing one, but why would GP come for the MLE? He wants to play out west, his family still lives in Seattle and his parents in Cali.

Thats pretty good, but I would still go for KT, Spree and 9th for Rasheed Wallace and Anderson. With the 31st pick take Lang or Kosta which ever is available and with the other second round take Outlaw or Villaneueva.

wallace = too passive for his own good.

He can be passive and give the rock to Houston and Dice if healthy of course. I like the fact that he can be a replacement for Dice if he never makes it back. Or he can play the SF position if he does make it back giving the Knicks an advantage at the SF position.

Interesting. I wouldn't want Spree in the locker room if he's coming off the bench behind Anderson, though. No way will he play nice with others. That will cause morale problems.

You have to trade Spree.

Also, Payton at 6 years? Does he even have 4 left in him?

Spree is gone in the trade for Wallace and Anderson. So the Knicks won't have to deal with a whinning Spree.

Line up looks like this:
Wallace sf
Dice pf
Kosta/Lang/Pavel/Vranes from the draft. c
Houston sg
Eisley/Williams

Thats a pretty good line up. The Roookie center would just have to give them defense and rebounding.

I would love to see Wallace in a Knicks uniform, but i say draft Marcus with one of the second round picks dont take two high schoolers if these high schoolers cant be drafted in the first round they cant be that good. The % of high schoolers to really make it in the NBA is not very good at all. Also don't call spree a whinner he gives all he has everytime he plays and he loves playing in NY.

First of all I like Al Harrington a lot but not for the 9th pick, and why do we want payton on our roster until he is 41? and caseloads I agree Rahseed wallace has become a 7'0 jump shooter, and this league has enough of those guys, that is why the Mavs will never win a ring.....

Briggs i absolutely love your trade idea. Especially the one with Gary payton being signed for 6 years. I like how you managed to give Indiana a volatile non athletic power forward and in return we got a young dedicated player in al harrington. Jeff foster and micheal doleac would be HUGE in the East
all those years as a fan and now i'm the anti-knick. life is crazy aint it.

Paying Payton the 6 year contract really is like giving him the 4 year contract for more money. This way he can play 4 or 5 and the Knicks can buy him out for a premium to make his 4 year contract really have a value of 7.5mm per year. Making the $ commitment would likely give the Knicks the edge. Obviously even at 35-36-37 Payton with his body type would still blow away anyone we could get to run the team. I see him just like I see Stockton--very effective until he retires. Really Payton is
the only 30+ player I like that has some reality..

Briggs I see where you are going but doing that is just another stop gap measure, the knicks need to develop guys like frank williams, payton is still good but past the days of dominating games, We could use that MLE on other needs. I give payton 2 more years and even with his great ability at 37, time takes its toll on that level. Plus that MLE increases every year, I just don't want to be into payton even for 4 years.. That will give milos even more reason not to come over...

Payton has ATLEAST 4 SOLID years left in him. I dont consider Payton a stop gap player.

And I would do whatI had to do to try tomove up to the 5th slot in the draft for Kaman. That is the best thing we can do via the draft without winning it. That has always been my number 1 option and I bet a farthing that the Knicks could have the same type plans. Considering the 2004 drft could be crppy--I can offer the Clippers

the 2004#1 restricted to 10 3mm in cash $ for the right to switch positions from 5-9. The Clippers who are cheap pickup a god dealof free cash and save a bundle on the draft positions+ they still will pickup TJ ford@ 9. draft kaman

Finally I use both of my 2nd rounders and the rights to Vujonic[who i do not need anymore] to get into the late first round and select either Villanueva or Travis Outlaw--which fullfills my requirement for a super athletic 3 for the future.

If we picked up lets say

Payton
Kaman
Outlaw thats a pretty good offseason.

not a bad idea, but I am not sold so much on Kaman and I really don't think Payton has 4 allstar years left..
