Good response... you gotta think that this team is deeper than Detroit too. Its all about these guys developing the toughness. The blocks/steals/TO's have to improve

It's a shame there's no stat for individual points allowed.

I am not sure what the point of the post is but I will take a shot at my interpetation. I think the Knicks were looking at adding a star this off season. Based on their roster they could not add Kobe, Garnett or O'Neal. The real possibilities were Sheed, Artest, and Randolph. The Knicks added Randolph. He is a much better pick up for the Knicks than Sheed. I think Sheed only functions as a positive member of his team because they win. Imagine him with the Knicks plus he is 32. I love Artest as a player but I have read accounts where Isiah struggled with him when he was his coach. The Knicks got the best impact player they could for their team.

Kobe, Garnett and JO might have been attainable, but would have cost Lee + other young assets. Also, they themselves are older. We got a relatively young player at a relatively cheap price who isn't the franchise player some people wanted, but he is a big step up from Frye.

You know - after reading many posts on this board about the trade I have to ask...

Why are people so pissed we got Randolph? We got him for NOTHING.

Francis was awful, contributed next to nothing, and was only taking up roster and cap space.

Frye - can we says Charles Smith the 2nd? The guy is way too soft. After having 1 good half season his rookie year, he has shown NOTHING.

At least we all know Randolph can produce. Sure he comes with baggage, so did Spree. Randolph can put up numbers that we havent seen a Knick put up in years and he basically cost us nothing.

Wallace and Webber put up those stats in 8 less minutes per game. Also if the point was to prove that Zack and Curry are the better interior post players and Sheed and Webber are better defensively (really just Sheed) and team oriented players, point proven.

Just trying to prove that this combo has the potential to be the best power combo in the league. Webber and Wallace are the only thing close.

It does also prove that they need to refine her games in terms of defense and efficiency.

This wasn't a bad trade. Its going to cause opponents to take notice when the Knicks come to town.

IT acquired a young big man named Jermaine O'Neal from the Blazers when he was with the Pacers. That turned out alright. As long as we aren't saying, I am not saying this will turn out as well, but IT is a good judge of talent. I "hope" Curry and Randolph can raise their games practicing against each other. I "hope" they don't end up just hitting the buffet together. I think that the questions to be asked is not whether the knicks front court can hang offensively with any frontcourt in the league, its whether the back court can hang defensively.
You know I gonna spin wit it

Hollinger Player Efficiency Ratings
Zach = 22.81
Curry = 17.07
Marbs = 15.36
Q = 14.31
Lee = 20.31

Webber = 16.02
'Sheed = 15.81
BigShot= 21.38
Prince = 16.01
Rip = 18.21

I hope this adds up to us being contenders

To be fair, I don't think you can compare Zack and Webber until they both get a full year on their teams. In the case of Zack, there's only one ball, so I think his efficiency ratings will drop (although his FG% may increase) and Webber's may look better with a full year in Detroit.

A better comparison is Boozer & Okur.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Not really there game is entirely diffrent like night and day. Okur totally disappeared in the playoffs especially in the WCF.

highly disagree w/u on Sheed over Zach... as much of an idiot he is on the court, the fact remains he provides the interior defense, shotblocking & perimeter shooting that would have complemented Curry's game perfectly... plus, he doesn't come with a maxed out contract over the next 4 years either... he's played on winning teams over his NBA career, which Zach has not... anyone who doesn't see the drawbacks in trading for a guy like Zach Randolph needs to take their blinders off & see the whole picture... please don't complain that the Knicks have no cap space in 2 years time when guys like Lebron or Kobe can possibly hit the free agent market either... i hope u guys are happy with this team because unless we somehow land ourselves a stud via another trade, or 1 of our young guys develops into a franchise star himself, we're not going to be contending for any championships.

The difference btw Webber/Sheed is that they can pass effectively from the post. If the Knicks can do this next year and our perimeter players can knick down shots, we will be one of the TOP 3 TEAM in the East hands down.
