Reading the comments on Zach's game makes me think that it just might have a remote chance to work.
Zach can hit the jumper and face up and drive, those are some awesome skills to have. Now add in a person that sits on the block and commands doubles and triples. Give us some guards who can hit the open 3 and we are a 45 win team with a playoff spot.
...unless they play no defense whatsoever, which is the way it stands right now.
Don't be so sure that this team won't play D. Let's not forget that Isiah has been adding defensive players and 2 of them were rookies last year. Jared, Balkman and Mardy can defend. Also Steph, Lee and Q are solid defenders. In addition to that in years to come I expect some decent D from Chandler and Nichols who have already shown that they have the talent to be good team defenders. Chandler had 47 blocks this year. I think it's just too fashionable to keep thinking of this team as a poor defensive team. I believe they're going to get better. Another year of playing together and in the same system. Better offense with fewer TO's will also help to improve the D. I think we're seriously underestimating the impact that adding Zach will have for this team.
Let's say that in the East Zach should have an easier time against the weaker competition. Even with Curry taking some of his thunder, Zach stands to still get a lot of shots, so I don't forsee a problem there. There won't be a time in the game when we don't have a serious low post threat and we didn't have that last year. Don't underestimate the impact that will have. Very few teams have the level of low post power that we have and our rebounding, which was already good just got BETTER!!! Now when we play teams have to deal with not only Curry and Steph, but also Zach. This will leave one on one for Jamal and more open shots for Q. Once again I think people are totally underestimating the effect of adding a guy with 20-10 skills to this team is gonna have.
