The only thing I ask is that no one make excuses for rebuilding retooling remodeling getting to know you getting to know all about you injuries outside shooting ballhndling basketball IQ strip clubs rotweilers tatoos cribs shot blocking dunk contests-----just show me the Ws--that is it--once wetraded the next Tim Duncan--anything that was on the table is off--this is a win now team and if it doesnt win--someone has to come forward and take blame after 6 years and a billion dollars.

Well said. But, by the same token, a 45 win season & one playoff series won next year is a reasonable goal.

this team still has 1 foot in the water & the other foot trying to stay dry on shore... until they commit to either getting their feet wet or staying dry until they're ready to jump in the water, this team is never going to make any progress towards becoming a viable contender in this league.

Man, CLEVELAND MADE THE FINALS LAST YEAR.

Who's going to stop this team? Boston?
Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

Nothing can stop this man. Except love.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

The bottom line is how does this trade help or hurt the Knicks acquire other quality, complimentary players so that they can win championships.

I can't see how it helps unless they trade Curry.

Curry and Zach ARE different players, who score from different parts of the floor. The issue is that they both have gotten the ball a lot in the past and are both 25 years old and will be wanting the ball for a while. And they are some of the worst defensive players ever. So, yeah, I dunno. It'd be great to trade Eddy Curry for Dalembert or someone like Camby, but I don't see that happening. It's going to be a weird season. All over the league.

I do really like both draft picks though.

Reading the comments on Zach's game makes me think that it just might have a remote chance to work.

Zach can hit the jumper and face up and drive, those are some awesome skills to have. Now add in a person that sits on the block and commands doubles and triples. Give us some guards who can hit the open 3 and we are a 45 win team with a playoff spot.

...unless they play no defense whatsoever, which is the way it stands right now.

Don't be so sure that this team won't play D. Let's not forget that Isiah has been adding defensive players and 2 of them were rookies last year. Jared, Balkman and Mardy can defend. Also Steph, Lee and Q are solid defenders. In addition to that in years to come I expect some decent D from Chandler and Nichols who have already shown that they have the talent to be good team defenders. Chandler had 47 blocks this year. I think it's just too fashionable to keep thinking of this team as a poor defensive team. I believe they're going to get better. Another year of playing together and in the same system. Better offense with fewer TO's will also help to improve the D. I think we're seriously underestimating the impact that adding Zach will have for this team.

Let's say that in the East Zach should have an easier time against the weaker competition. Even with Curry taking some of his thunder, Zach stands to still get a lot of shots, so I don't forsee a problem there. There won't be a time in the game when we don't have a serious low post threat and we didn't have that last year. Don't underestimate the impact that will have. Very few teams have the level of low post power that we have and our rebounding, which was already good just got BETTER!!! Now when we play teams have to deal with not only Curry and Steph, but also Zach. This will leave one on one for Jamal and more open shots for Q. Once again I think people are totally underestimating the effect of adding a guy with 20-10 skills to this team is gonna have.

Steph, Lee and Q are solid defenders
Man this is a huge stretch. They are better on horrible defensively Knicks team but not comparing to 20 better teams in NBA
Jared, Balkman and Mardy can defend
- they sure do, but will they have any minutes to play and will they be around at all? Jared was just bad, and balk and Mardy are green.

The help defense was comical last year and will only get worth with Zach.
Can it get worth anyway? Will se..

It's not a stretch. In terms of how they defend their position they're solid. Not good or great, but solid. There are very few real man to man defensive players in this league. Most players have to play team defense to slow down their opponents. That's what we're gonna have to do. Play much better team D. I think we can do it for longer stretches than we did last year and since I believe the offense will be much stronger this will be enough.

They'll get playing time. Overall I think this team wont be a strong defensive team, but it won't have to be. I think their going to be one of the better offensive teams in the league. We'll play just enough D to win games, with our offense.

Our team sucks defensively, and we don't have any individual stoppers, only guys that man up when it's convenient for them.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

We need only to cut down on the TO's and execute more efficiently on Offense and that will help our D to be more effective. Not giving up so many easy points is a part of the good defense that some teams like Detroit play. We don't have to be a shut down team to win.

Also the team doesn't "suck" on D. The team has been inconsistent. For as many times as this team has fallen behind by large deficits and come back from them, it's clear that we can defend to some degree or else we would never be able to come back so often. I also think that we do have some good defenders but 2 of them happen to be some of our young players and will only get better as they develop. The teams defensive chemistry will get better as they continue to play together under the same system. Just remember that it doesn't have to be great defense for us to win. We just need to have more consistently good D.

Forget defense for a second. If we were able to just do that it would make a HUGE difference for this team when it comes down to wins & losses.

As long as this team turns the ball over the way we do we will struggle & be inconsistant. The main focus of this team should be ball control.

That is the #1 problem with this team. #2 is defense.

nixluva, all I want to hear you say is, "yes, no more excuses. this year playoffs or Isiah failed and should go. NO MATTER WHAT." Can you say that?
