it seems like i am the only one who LIKES this trade on this board. we just recieved a 20-10 guy from the west, mind you, without giving up lee or curry. randolph is not a sexy name and is not flashy but he gets the job done. he can also do well facing the basket so he won't get in curry's way. he can rebound better than most pf. he can create his own shot and will look for shot for others. he CAN pass out from the post which will make him dangerous. curry will receive more single coverage since they will worry about randolph. i hope lee is working on his jumpshot so he can stay in the starting lineup. if not, q rich will have to make those plethora of open shots that he will undoubtedly have. sure defense is a problem. however, it would have still been a problem if we did not make this trade anyway. we added jones who people are overloking too. he is strictly defense and athleticism, which we lost from ariza. that is what we need from the perimeter. i think this is a good trade that will help us compete in the east. however, i said that before and we know what happened. we will see once the season begins.

I just ran the trade through trade checker and it doesnt qualify. Can anyone explain this?

Due to New York and Portland being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York and Portland had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did not happen here (only New York met the condition). This trade does not satisfy the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Over half the board is in favor.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

And Katz's Deli, and 2nd Avenue Deli, and Lombardo's, and the Tupelo Grill, and Rosa Mexicana, and Ruby Foos, and all of Little Italy, and...

I kid Z-Bo, I think this is the best trade we've made in a decade... not saying much, but its an improvement.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

For Zach's sake, I hope he comes in and has a great season. This will force the media to put all the crap about his personal life back in the closet.

I hate having to defend Z-Bo but you guys are pretty stuffy about this thing.

Allanfan, if Z-Bo was to get caught with him. He will be following the long tradition of Knicks great big men.

1) Patrick Ewing who actually had to testify at a mob trial and explain how a mobster supplied him with strippers to perform sexual acts. A great Knick moment. My favorite Ewing scandal though is the Knick City Dancers one. The was great. He not only cheated on his wife he convinced his bosses to speak on his behalf to her. She still divorced him. So as punishment no Knick City Dancer could fraternize with any Knick players. No wonder why he wasn't so well liked in the locker room.
2) Charles Oakley see Patrick Ewing above story.
3) Larry Johnson who may have fathered a small village of future NBA stars is no prize.
4) You could write a Penthouse forum about Anthony Mason.

Based on history, he might be in the right place.

I support the trade, not the player.

We gave up nothing for a good player, but the player wasn't a need or an improvement in any way shape or form.

Zach does exactly what Curry does, except he hits outside shots....like Frye did.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I support the player, not his contract, and not for how this team is currently constructed.

^ I know that.

But we're a top 3 rebounding team, so it doesn't matter.

bobs3304 - Randolph does not play the same game eddy Curry does. I don't understand why people continue to parrot mis-informaion based on some stereotype.

Zach has range to 15 feet. That is not Eddy Curry's game.

Randolph plays the same game as eddy in that he is most effective with the ball in his hands while he operates with his back to the basket in the post. His game is better than Eddy's in that he has range to 15 feet.

And he rebounds.

Misinformation is that both will be happy with the demands of the other for the ball.

Will Randolph be happy being the second option on O?

Will Curry be effective AT ALL when Randolph is on a roll and hitting everything? What will he do?

Check out Zach's stats on 82games.com. Zach barely hits 40% of his jump shots. http://www.82games.com/0607/06POR12A.HTM We could have just kept Frye if we wanted that. The only time where Zach is truly an effective player is in close to the basket with the ball in his hands and without thinking about possibly passing the ball. Sound like another player on the team?

Martin - I've watched Randlph play effectively facing the basket.

At Portland he received the ball at the top of the key on occassion. Eddy does not generally catch the pill from too far out.

I'm jus' sayin'

both players need the ball in their hands to be effective and we know that Eddy is kinda useless without it.
