Projected cap figures Cap figures for 2009-2010 with the addition of Randolph

Or does it not matter because no matter what I SAY UGH does it's GOSPEL.

Just wait. The new idea on this forum is to add AK47's contract to the list. I guess since we are helping Zack out might as well as help out him too.

enough with the "cap space"...agents arent stupid, the pool of desirable teams that are under the cap is severely limited. Thats why most big names either re-sign, or orchestrate a trade.

I remember when the Knicks made the Marbury trade and everybody started screaming and crying about the potential free agent pool which included the likes of Dirk and Shaq...none of those cats saw the market.

AK47, Troy Murphy, Nene & Larry Hughes must be high on our wishlist right about now.

That's the ironic thing. This is Brigg's wish list from 2005 to 2007. That's why I am so shock that he was upset that he got his boy Z-Bo.

JO is worthy of the money he's paid because he's a 2 way player at the top of his position... i'd have had no problem if Isiah had made a trade for him... as for Artest & Gooden, their contracts are not that overpaid & they both come off the books after 2 more seasons, so if they don't work out, it's not the end of the world... Dampier, Walker & Miles i agree are as overpaid as they come, which probably means Isiah's scouting those guys as we speak... KMart is a guy i've always loved because of the passion he plays with, & his contract, although an albatross, is still covered by insurance i believe if he is unable to play due to that injury... Kwame's contract is expiring & Odom's contract has 1 more year after that, so those deals are manageable.

I think 58.2 would be just barely under the cap but then Randolph would have one yr left and we could trade him and do the same thing again

that doesn't take into account curry + crawford opting out to sign bigger deals or an extension to lee which will balloon that $$$ amount as well.

and if we make the playoffs this year, expect another acquisition next summer (if not another MLE or trade this one).

forget the cap, that's never been the plan even tho isiah basically lied to everyone and grunwald lied to season ticket holders a few months ago at a q&a.

so now here comes the flood of the somewhat veiled and negative post about the knicks and the draft, these threads all read the same, this thread, the "winners and losers thread" all deep down serve the same purpose.. and it is to take shots.... geez how do we consider this good basketball conversation? at what point does it become whining?

yep. I've been conditioned to accept the skewing towards the negative. And often, its obscenely, "no hope in the world" negative.

Way it is around here.

We got a 6-10, 26 y/o that puts up All-star numbers, point blank. A few question marks, perhaps. But doom and gloom?

doom & gloom is just an extreme over dramatic way of having fun discussing this team. no different than the people that "rah rah rah". it's all in good fun.

but the question i have for you in terms of basketball is do you think isiah has a real plan in place in building a winning team? do you think he knows what he's doing? are you comfortable with him putting this team together? and do you think this is all going to work out?

the answers to those questions slot you in some sort of fan category i guess.

seb, i think i'm pretty fair minded whenever it comes to my evaluations... i'm not an Isiah hater or an Isiah Apologist... there are some moves that he makes that i've loved, like most of his draft picks, & then there are moves that he makes that literally make me want to puke, like signing Jerome Turd James, & the trade he made last night.

I wouldn't be surprise is this is part of the "Get Kobe to NY" Master plan. Keep acquiring guys that the Lakers would bite on. I hate Randolph but I will admit that he is a better chip than say Frye and Francis. I still think the Blazers should have gotten more for him. There were better offers for him.

That's why I said either overpaid, headcases, or overrated. I should have added Busts J.O. is overpaid no matter what his 2-way play says, Artest is a headcase, Gooden is overrated IMO, Lamar is a little overpaid IMO maybe he needs a better system and team, Kwame is a Bust.

I'm not referencing you at all. We've had a good back and forth. We arent that far apart at all. Differing opinions grounded in logic are what this site is all about.

As far as DJ's point about building a winner and such...I'm not in a position to answer that just yet. All I can do is look at the trade in the vacuum presented...We upgraded our talent, while ridding ourselves of a counterproductive part. It remains to be seen how the other shoes drop, but we won this deal. No question.

Randolph is 6'10, 26, and 20-10. Numbers dont lie as they say.

Exactly no sane fan ever believed them, we were goofing on the news and new vision when it broke but of course you had the Homers drinking the FOOL-AID by the gulps at the time. Now they are Flip-Flopping like they usually do. I'm bringing it up again to show how there just isn't a plan, we have an impulsive GM that says whatever passifies the fans, while running this franchise into the ground.

judging the trade in a vacuum, then yes, the Knicks obviously make out on the better end in terms of what they got in talent in return for what they gave up... you know what my problems are with this though... we'll see how it plays out, but i don't have any faith that this is part of any real plan at putting together a championship contender... if Isiah somehow manages to trade for a guy like KG or Kobe in the coming weeks, i'll eat my words & renew my faith in this franchise.

I think the hawks got two good players, but I wanted them to get a game changer, and I think conely with his speed may be that guy and he is a PG, something the hawks have needed for years. I am not too happy with their draft....
