From Isola in the Daily News:
WANTING WALLACE: Charlotte Bobcats small forward Gerald Wallace, a renowned Knicks killer, will become an unrestricted free agent on Sunday. The Knicks have interest in signing Wallace, but early indications are that he will re-sign with Charlotte. The Knicks' best and perhaps only chance of acquiring Wallace would be to work out a sign-and-trade. That would also mean that long-time adversaries Thomas and Michael Jordan would take their rivalry from the court to the front office. Jordan owns a minority stake in the Bobcats and has final say on all basketball moves.

Not sure what gets it done. Sounds like the Cats were interested in Lee, but I would not trade Lee for G. Wallace. Craw/Balk?

I'd trade anyone other than Lee for Gerald.

Yeah, but he can defend pretty damn well, and we could use that.

yeah ... but he can't shoot, if Isiah wants a defensive wing who can't shoot then he should just groom Balkman then.

Point. We do need to get some more two-way players here.

He has a good enough jump shot that you can't leave him wide open. (And he's a better rebounder and shot-blocker than our current center.)

Good player, but overrated. To be fair, though, he's better than many of the players on our team. Still, don't give up the farm for Gerald Wallace, you'll be disappointed.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Really? I think he's underrated because he's a good player who gets zero attention

Overrated among hardcore fans, like the ones on this board. Underrated among the general population, sure.

He puts up good stats. But if Gerald Wallace was as good as his stats, him and Okafor would be a killer combination. They're not. Okafor is clearly a stud. Therefore, my money is on Gerald Wallace looking very good on a poor team. Don't get me wrong. He brings some nice skills to the table, particularly the shot blocking. But, he's of the same stud level as guys like Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington are. Guys who get ridiculously overrated on a team that was terrible and once they get to a good team, they make positive contributions, but they're not considered a stud anymore. Same with Wallace, IMHO.

I agree. Wallace is the perfect compliment to our front line. He rebounds, blocks-shots and is a great help defender which is somehting our front line doesnt do (except rebounding for Lee). There aren't too many SF's who can do that and he is perfect for our front line.

He's underrated offensively as well. Has a much better offensive arsenal than Lee. Expolosive taking it to the basket and has an improving jump shot. He would be my number one target this offseason.

I think you are going on the assumption that Okafor is a stud which hurts your assessment. How can you call a guy a stud who doesn't put up more impressive stats than the guy you saying is the problem. They are on the same team.

I agree. I think both are very solid two-way players but neither is a stud.

Okafor's stats are very impressive. But he's very injury prone. I also didn't call Gerald Wallace the problem. Merely said he wasn't a stud, and shouldn't be treated as such.
