The Portland Trailblazers don't really need Greg Oden as much as they need Kevin Durant. Yes, Martell Webster is good and Travis Outlaw, if they extend a qualifying offer to him, is decent, but placing Kevin Durant in that Portland Trailblazers lineup would be SIC.

PG - Jarret Jack

SG - Brandon Roy

SF - Kevin Durant

PF - Zach Randolph

C - LaMarcus Aldridge

They Trailblazers already have a Center in LaMarcus Aldridge, Joel Pryzbilla, and Raef LaFrentz. They're pretty weak in the Small Forward department.

Remember when Portland didn't choose Michael Jordan because they had Clyde Drexler, and instead picked Sam Bowie.

I'm not saying Oden will be Sam Bowie, but this could be a similar case.

Why draft Durant when you can trade Zach Randolph for a pretty decent SF(most likely Jefferson)

Jack, Roy, Jefferson, Aldridge, Oden

Thats a very solid Starting 5.

From a personality stand point- moving Zach makes sense- its a chance to erase a mistake. I honestly can't believe the nets will move jeffereson for zach.

Why pick Durant over Oden? If you think Durant is better than what you can get with Zach (jefferson) and if you're not sure Oden is going to be a dominant big man.

I never thought Zach would get a player as good as RJ. He has been putting up 18 and 9 for years and everybody thought hewas an over paid cancers. I guess a 20plus and 10 season is worth more then all of the things that turn people off.

Portland's plan seems clear: (1) Get Oden; (2) Get Zach Randolph the hell outta there.

Durant is going to be a great player, with near certainty. But, Oden is going to be a legend. That's the difference. As much as I like Durant, you can't pass on Oden. You just can't.

That being said, if the Sonics called me up, offered 2-3 future 1st rounders plus Durant, I'd definitely have to consider it.

Durant is going to be a Rich Man's Reggie Lewis from the Celtics and Lewis was an F'N stud. I think he'll be infinitely better than him.

Portland said the same thing about Sam Bowie and left MJ on the board. You will see, Durant loves and respects the game.

Stop using that as a point of reference...The Bowie/Jordan dynamic was legendary in its result and there are inverse examples where a highly touted big man has outperformed a more athletic and sexier pick (no homo). I remember when everyone was convinced that Ryan Leaf would be a better pro quarterback than Manning.

It was Hakeem olajuwon who went nuber one, not Bowie. That is who Oden should be compared to, if anybody from that draft. And the Dream didn't turn out that bad no did he??? LOL

YOU ARE RIGHT IT WAS HAKEEM

The point was portland didn't pick Jordan because they already had drexler.

Drexler and Jordan would have been better than pippen and jordan.

Oden is nice but durant is "the truth" Durant won't be in foul trouble like oden will. Dude is not use to playing against guys bigger than him, we found that out when he went up against Hibbert of G-town = foul trouble LOL

Terrible point of comparison. Durant isn't MJ, and Oden is certainly not Bowie. You can't use one foolish team to prove your point.

Ralph Sampson, Hakeem olajuwon is closer to Lamarcus Aldridge, Greg Oden. It's a strench and it isn't even factually right. They aren't passing Durant because they have a smallforward and they are taking the best bigman in the draft. Not the second best or Sam Bowie....

I agree with you Playa. If Portland don't trade Zach for outside shooting then they are going to have the same problem from last season. Durant can open up the floor for Zach and Aldridge...

Also...Oden would be perfect for Seattle. Oden and Allen would make a killer combo. Add Lewis, and you can pencil them in for the playoffs.

Had to bring this debate back, I think Durant made Portland scarier than Oden.

PG - Jarret Jack

SG - Brandon Roy

SF - Kevin Durant

PF - Zach Randolph

C - LaMarcus Aldridge
