Guns and Roses - Civil War

That was a nice song but, imo, not Stewart's best. For the best rock n roll song ever - I'd go with Hey Jude or Gimme Shelter.

Posted by firefly: F'in love that song with a passion, but I think November Rain is absolutely phenominal. “Whenever I’m about to do something, I think ‘Would an idiot do that?’ and if they would, I do NOT do that thing.”- Dwight Schrute

Posted by Allanfan20:Totally agree, November Rain is also amazing, but Civil War also has the added value of have some really deep subtexts. Conflict etc. etc.Posted by firefly: What's so civil about war anyway? Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?

Civil War?
Hell no. The Stones' Beast of Burden is better than that song "Anyone who sits around waiting to hit the lottery, whether basketball or real life, in order to better their position is a loser."

Pimpin, you need to start some heavy-metal threads. Best guiter solo, best band, best song etc.
I'm a huge Metallica fan, so I would say, the solo in Unforgiven, or the opening riff in One. Best song to me, for sheer weight of meaning (which is the only thing that interests me about metal, bands who just want to be loud are all shallow wannabes imo ie Korn) would be One, Fade to Black or Unforgiven. Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?

Civil War is a great GnR song but if you want to listen to a true masterpiece then listen to Locomotive off Use Your Illusion II.

Posted by firefly: I just picked up And Justice for All on CD after all these years, having worn out my Metallica tapes long ago. Of all their Albums, thats the only one i felt still had that power and relevance that it did when it came out. Blackened is just a super sick song i happen to like and it starts off the album. But yeah... thats metal. Rock songs ...to appease both our Beatles and our G'n'R contingent: Live and Let Die [Edited by - kam77 on 06-18-2007 7:34 PM] lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Looks like i'll have to be the 'go against the grain guy' again. There are so many great songs out there, and over the many decades. I dare to say there is no such thing. It really comes down to the individual and what any one of us really likes. Even with myself, I can't pick just one. It's just too complicated.
I'll never trust this' team again.
