Good deal for Toronto. Those picks should be only in the 46 to 52 range.

Solid trade for the Raptors. Delfino was a first round pick of Det in 2003 25th selection just 25yrs old.

Not bad for Detroit either, I think. Delfino has been subpar so far in his NBA career. I'm not sure they could have gotten much more value from him than they did. There will at least be a chance they find a diamond in the rough, or they can use the 2nd round picks as trade sweeteners.

Is Colangelo trying to build the United Nations in Toronto or something?

I actually like Delfino. I think he's gonna do well in Tor. I'm wondering why the Pistons felt the need to make this move. They must have something else planned, cuz I don't get it.

To date, the only things Delfino has done really well is rebound (7 rebounds per 40 minutes) and keep his turnovers down (2 TO per 40). He hasn't been great at scoring efficiently or creating shots. On the other hand, he has shown small but steady improvement in his shooting numbers over his 3 seasons. If he can continue that rate of development he'll be a nice player in a couple of years. But if he doesn't he's nothing more than a decent backup.

I agree that Delfino hasn't done anything very impressive. With a draft pick around 50, though (like the 2 the Raps gave up) you're usually just hoping to get someone capable of playing respectably in the league. And also the Raptors are clearly trying to improve their team NOW rather than waiting 2 and 4 years for these two picks.

Everyone sees how wide open the East is. At least TOR does. Any incremental improvement to your team.... you too can be in the NBA Finals.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Are you sure the picks will be that low? In any case, even with higher 2nd round picks the odds of getting a player who can make a roster in the NBA is low. But there is at least a small chance at getting a home run of a player, which seems to happen in the 2nd round every few years. This trade also gives the Pistons a little more trade flexibility down the road as they've split one asset into two, and neither of them need to figure into cap-matching calculations. Not a terrible return for the kind of player Delfino has been so far.

#1 IT'S HARD FOR Euro Guys like Darko and Delfino to make it in DETROIT AKA CHOCOLATE CITY. The culture there would not fit them, but Toronto would.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I think it is hard to ignore the success San Antonio has had with foreign players and with finding pieces that fit. Colangelo is smart. I wish he was running the Knicks. I think he knows what he is doing.

It's more a question of the player fitting the team's system than the city. Colangelo has said that he thinks Delfino will do better in their system.

This is a steal. Toronto might have another starter on their hands. He's gonna fit and he is gonna make that team better.

Colangelo is the man.

Good move for Toronto. They got something for basically nothing, but don't over value Delfino. It's like they found a $5 in the street, not like they won $100 playing the stock market.

I just looked up their ranking this year. To my surprise, if Toronto had their 2nd round pick, it would have been #53 this year! Considering that they're a young, blossoming team (with cap space), I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them either to stay the same or to improve (so long as they stay healthy). So these two picks might be in the mid 50s. I agree with what you're saying about the possibility of hitting a home run with the 2nd round picks. The choice of keeping the picks or getting Delfino depends I guess on whether you like to gamble or go for the sure thing ("sure thing" in the sense that we know Delfino is capable of being an NBA player). The 2 2nd round picks are trade assets like you said, but I think Delfino (on a very low salary) is also a trade asset.

If they found $5 and just spent it randomly then its not really that big a deal. If they take that same $5 and buy some scratch offs and a mega million, they have a chance to get become a millionare. The chances are they might not get anything, but if they at the very least have a shot at getting something for nothing.
