The league has been really quiet but I think it's brewing to be an unusual opff-season with mega-bloackbusters and a lot of movement. Its the calm before the storm.

Chances the following occurs in NBA off-season:

Kobe traded - 10%
Shawn Marion traded - 90%
Ron Artest traded - 100%
Jason Terry traded - 50%
Celtics # 1 pick traded - 90%....probably for Shawn Marion
Jermaine O'Neil traded - 50%
Cavs overhaul roster a bit (meaning 3 or more guys in their usual rotation) - 90%
Lamar Odom traded - 60%
AK47 traded - 50%
Jason Richardson - 50%
Magic get Vince Carter - 50%
Richard Jefferson for Zach Randolph - 80%
Rasheed Wallace - 80%
Rashard Lewis - 100%
Pau Gasol - 80%

Where on Earth do you come up with those percentages?

I agree with DJ though. I think this league needs a shakeup, and it goes beyond team shakeups and blockbuster trades. The number of contenders out there are at a minimum, and it's pretty bad that the Cleveland Cavaliers are in the NBA finals.

How's this Allan....

< 30% means possible
> 30% but < 60% means likely
> 60% means very likely

Geez...obviously the specific %'s aren't a result of some formula. Just having fun w/ the likelihood of rumored deals.

I wasn't attacking you man. I just figured you were really making a serious attempt at figuring it out.

It's so quiet that you can just feel that many teams are looking to make big changes. There are so many teams that have no shot currently and need to restructure their roster in order to get better. Clear cap space or move a talent to get more young talent and start over etc. There's just a lot of teams in limbo that need to shuffle the deck so to speak.

The league needs to contract 2 teams minimum.

Hold a draft for the remaining 28 teams to sift thru the 24-30 displacecd players.

Result: 24 NBA guys at the end of the bench leaguewide will head to Europe to play and the quality of play will inch up in the NBA due to teams now having that extra weapon who can play rather than stiff at end of bench.

Imagine we contract Portland and Seattle... draft their guys.. and move the first round from 30 picks to 28. The NBA would have a much better product over the next 14 drafts.

Good observation Briggs.

I think Stern cannot afford to have another powerful West coast team against a developmental leauge EC ever again.

I agree Briggs.

Ratings are down and the finals are absolute torture to watch. If the league is smart they would shake thing up and help the big market teams get better sooner rather than later. The NBA keeps shooting itself in the foot with these ratings thing. They have to be smarter about suspensions and what not they are taking the passion out of the players and killing off rivalries. What made some of the past playoffs fun to watch was the fact that everything was played at a extreme level and the importance of the game was magnified. Now the NBA is full of bad basketball and sissy rules all over the place. Not fun basketball at all.

the east really needs some talent. I mean especially now with the top 2 draft picks going to the west. It is so lop-sided, just look at the finals. Verajo vs duncan, hughes vs parker....give me a break.

And if Stern is smart he will help to bring the Knicks back to their days of glory (Big market team, right). So, who is coming to NY???
