I have an apple laptop and I love it. Not only is it faster you also do not have to worry about pop up ads.

only problem is not all websites are optimized to be used through alternative browsers like Safari, but in those rare cases, u can easily switch back to Iexplorer... the bad thing about Firefox is that you have to install so many damn plugins to make media files compatible.

Once in a while I run into problems due to using Safari, but mostly it's a very pleasant experience. I've been using it for years now and it's so different when I use IE on my PC's. I prefer safari cuz it's so lean and with far less interference from pop ups.

I recently bought a macbook pro- and I'm running windows xp home through parallels- so, apple is better because you can run both!

But- I must admit that there have been issues with my mbp that I've never had on a windows machine- so there not perfect.

And I don't really use safari much- it doesn't do well with a site I run off drupal- not sure why.

The safari for windows is geared at the iphone- the same way itunes is on windows because of ipods.

Apple is slowly, through the back door, taking over the computing environment that isn't reflected by their os marketshare.

I agree, Apple makes a better product.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I'm happy with Firefox though. Might have to give this Safari another look.

kam77: Apple makes a different product, not a better product.

Safari is faster for some functions but is the speed difference really noticeable? My HTML page load time pretty damn fast on FF. Whats makes Firefox so good is the variety of plugins. I have a todo list, a delicious plugin and an mp3 player all running without any extra resources within the browser. Safari is definitely an alternative, in league with FF, Opera and IE7.

I agree. Of all of them, Firefox rules. Safari isn't in the same ballpark yet. IE is pure garbage and only useful if you want your computer taken over by Satan. I tried Opera back years ago and hated it, but I've heard it's gotten better. And of course, Lynx will always be the best browser -- nothing can beat browsing the internet in pure text mode!

Opera is really good except that it takes forever to initially load the browser. Thats why I ended up switching to firefox- plus firefox had more extensions.

(Hope this doesn't sound preachy) General rule of computing, the less it does, the faster it will be (except in Microsoft's case).

I've had a lot of issues w/ Firefox 2.x on both Mac and PC - I seem to be experiencing more lockups/crashes on vs 1.5x.

That "restore session" feature is nice and all, but I'd like to figure out a way to turn it off.

I'm not a big fan of Safari in general because a lot of sites (financial or email) don't support. I'm also somewhat wary of proceeding through online store checkouts with Safari - I'd rather not worry about the page not rendering correctly when there's money involved.

Something seems different on Safari on the PC vs other browsers in general - one thing I've noticed is the url on the top bar is centered, not aligned left like IE/Firefox. The black text on the dark grey gradient isn't so readable (I kind of don't like that about Apple's latest look - i think it should be a few shades lighter). Another thing is that in terms of tabbed browsing, the close button is on the left vs the right on Firefox 2.x. I can't even figure out what the heck is going on in IE 6 w/ the live toolbar or IE7 (I hate that f'in' browser).

Text in Safari is rendered very fat/anti-aliased compared to Firefox/IE. Much softer/chunkier. I'm not sure I like that.

Other than that, for general functionality, there's a lot of convergence in web browsers - we're used to working in certain ways, so we want all of our browsers to have a familiar feel to them.
