ABC and ESPN are killing me.

TNT will do. They just need to get rid of Kenny Smith.

Ratings are down from the heyday. NBC won't touch this product til the Celts or Knicks are good again.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

nbc's only team sports is nhl hockey...which recently garnered the lowest ratings EVER in nbc sports history.

nbc lost the nfl, swung and miss with the xfl. they lost the nba. and lost mlb a long time ago.

the olympic investment may end up hurting the network.

Ratings are going to remain down until Stern brings back the real style of basketball

I think the NBA kinda sucks right now. I mean, I can appreciate what the Spurs do & their winning ways, but I confess that they bore me. I think they need to take a long hard look at some of the rule changes, and the cap situation that hurts big-market teams like the Knicks.

Oh yeah - ABC's coverage SUCKS too!

And how do you explain happens? He eliminated illegal defenses and allowed zone D in order to promote mid range shooting and passing. Didn't happen. It's the new age style of play, and Bip is also 100% right. We coddle to these guys way too much, when they should be coddling this league.

The future of TV isn't network channels, it's cable. Once the deal with ABC is up, I wouldn't surprised if a cable channel picked up the weekly rights, ESPN, TNT, hell even NBAtv.

i think the big difference is how nbc marketed the nba. they rode jordan's coattails, true. but they also marketed shaq, hakeem, ewing, penny, and whoever is popular to household names. believe it or not, you ask an average person today who is in the nba finals, i bet they do not know. whereas in the 90's it was an event. abc had only two successful years in my opinion, the year of the lakers/76ers finals and last year with miami/dallas. having new jersey in two of the finals don't help with ratings either. you are right, nba on nbc was something i looked forward to every sunday afternoon no matter WHO was playing.
