I'm looking to invest some money. I know we kinda went through this before but Im seriously interested in stacking a decent amount for the near future.

I don't want to sell weed cuz I did that in the 90s and I'm too grown to be getting locked up for that ****. Crack is just bad karma. Heroine and the rest is too risky and complicated business wise.

Seriously, how should I go about investing a small amount, say $50-100 and building up to a few thousand of ready to use money in 5 years?

The only way to turn 100 to 1000 in 5 years is by gambling. Your asking for a 1000% gain. If we knew how to do that we'd all be rich.

This is gonna sound stupid, but to be completely honest, what you need to do is figure out a way to save more. Put yourself on the savings schedule. Take $100 from every paycheck and put it into a high interest internet savings account every month. I'm talking one of the accounts from HSBC or Emigrant Direct that give you 5% annual percentage yield. You pretty much have zero risk of losing you're principal and your money will be at least be earning interest and working for your rather than sitting in a drawer or on your debit card ready to be wasted on something. Then when you get to a decent amount like 2000-3000 dollars, find a nice mutual fund (you also should budget out some time every month read about how the securities markets work). Once your mutual fund does ok and you've sufficiently educated yourself, you can start to dabble in stocks.

But you first have to temper your expectations. What you propose in your first thread is not plausible. Remember, the more you expect to get, the more risk you have to take- and since it sounds like you're trying to save for a rainy day, you basically should be thinking low risk tolerance.

And saving money is like a diet. It takes a lot of discipline not to touch that cash. So make a plan to put it away and pretend like you don't even have it.
