Pretty soon, you won't be hearing about guys like Webber, Malik Rose, Abdur-Rahim, Gary Payton, Cliff Robinson, Juwuan Howard, etc. -- you know, those players that should already be out the league but due to the lack of talent, they remain and produce some of the most redundant basketball playing ever.

It's a new day everyone. The NBA did not change guards with the 2003 Draft as everyone thinks, the changing of the guard begins with this draft.

Discuss.

I think with LeBRon, Wade, even Milicic getting or winning titles.. the 2003 draft has done all right. Carmelo has been in the playoffs what every year? Hinrich is a solid pro. Bosh led his team to the playoffs...

The guard done changed
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

As long as there is expansion, talent will be watered down and olders players will be around a lot longer than they should be...The NBA currently has about 5 teams too many...Play has been effected...I'm not sure if a group of players from the this year's draft or another can be looked at as the sole issue...

I would be suprised of oden and Durant are even better than melo, lebron, and wade, and add bosh, those are all talented guys, even franchise talent. Even with all the oden hype, if he becomes the player bosh is now, that would be huge, but we are talking about melo, wade, and Lebron! that is a hella draft, one of the best in many years...

I meant from the entire crop of ready-made players. Not just the obvious top 3 or 4 picks.

bigpimpin - what position on the court do you feel is most dramatically affected by the influx of new talent?

The franchise which can get ahead of that style curve will position itself best for the future, yes?

In my humble opinion, "the new breed" started arriving with the appearance of fowards who were over 6'8 who could handle the ball in traffic.

ie. Carmelo.

The Knicks could use one. Is Balkman one answer?

Durant can do everything melo can do put rebounds the ball better and is taller, and Oden is going to be so good its downright scary....

Not a lot of big guys come in and average a double double right away something he is going to do with ease....

east playoff teams:

detroit, cleveland, toronto, bulls, heat, nets, wizards, magic

west playoff teams:

mavs, suns, spurs, rockets, jazz, denver, lakers, warriors

of all 16 playoff teams, only 1 team (the heat) doesn't have an international player as part of the regular rotation.

Sam Bowie was drafted ahead of Micheal Jordan

MS - Durant and Oden have yet to play a single professional game

The coronation will not be televised from Seattle or Portland

Yes, I agree. I think the PF spot is about to become re-invented in this draft. It won't be the pound the ball insode power forwards of yesteryear but more of the swingmen, versatile, pass, run the floor, shoot from the arc breed.
