NIX NIXED BY KNICKS
By MARC BERMAN

June 7, 2007 -- Jeff Nix, director of college scouting who has been with the Knicks for 15 seasons, is being let go less than a month before the NBA Draft, The Post has learned.

Nix, who started as an assistant under Pat Riley and has worked with eight Knicks head coaches, will not have his contract renewed, a team official said. Nix's contract expires Aug. 31. It is unlikely he will perform any more duties for the club leading to the June 28 draft, though a Knicks official said that point hasn't been fully established. Nix was not present at the first two pre-draft workouts yesterday or Monday.

Nix was the Knicks' assistant GM under Scott Layden for five seasons but has been on borrowed time since Isiah Thomas took control. Thomas' hiring of Glen Grunwald in October as senior VP ultimately spelled doom for Nix. Also, Walker D. Russell, director of pro player personnel, has grabbed more power.

Who has his best pick - LaVar Postell?
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

You mean NIXluva is out of a job?
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

In all seriousness, I loved Lavar Postell when he was in St. Johns. Why he suddenly decided to change his game is beyond me, but Postell the Johnie and Postell the Knick were two completely different people.

I'm glad they finally found the guy responsible for the Knicks woes over the past several years. It's about time.

I can't believe Nix survived this long. I always loved the Wright and Chenowith selections.

I was always curious what the real scouting budget was for the Knicks. Because I always figured it was the price of access to the internet. Still to this day I believe the only reason Layden drafted Donnell Harvey was because NBADRAFT.NET had him going to the Knicks.
