I know how many posters in here tend to be rather sensationalized by a brief gust of wind as opposed to someone they have witnessed for spring, summer, winter and fall.

So, I'm curious. Would you rather have Boobie Gibson backing up Stephon Marbury or Mardy Collins?

Either way, give me one main reason why you chose your choice.

Mardy Collins here.

He has shown that he can be a physical defender at the position. He has shown the ability to get steals and rebound the ball. He is a pss-first player. Although he isn't the greatest offensive player in the league, he has shown that he is capable of being effective without the ball.

Collins.. i have only seen Boobie as a shooter. Collins has a hell of an all around game

it's all about who your teammates are. Boobie is perfect for James and Collins fits more with Curry.

right now, gibson as a shooter fits the cavs well, but for the knicks and in most situations I would take mardy. Bigger, better ball handler, potential defensive stud. I rather have what mardy brings to the table, but for what cleveland needs right now, booby is the man, but if I were chosing, I take mardy for my team.

I agree. I would also add that Collins has shown the potential to be a more well-rounded player than Gibson, who has only shown the ability to hit open shots. Collins can defend, create matchup problems, can run the offense, and will allow Marbury and Nate to play 2 guard, which they are better suited for. Martin is right in that Collins fits our team better, and I also think that he has the potential to be a better player than Gibson if his shooting improves.

I don't really agree with Collins fitting more for curry unless defense is really all that we measure players by next to curry, that said i would rather have collins. He will develop a jumper over time and the well roundness he brings would benefit any team in the playoffs and will be important in the long run....

And I still believe if you removed james from cleveland and insert him on the knicks with mike brown preaching defense and not standing for midget backlash and having the knicks play the right way we are in the finals with a better chance to win

How about the fact that he can place it on the floor and take it all the way to the basket? Or that he has size when feeding the post? Or that he can probably guard taller offensive players better?

i like a lot of what collins brings. his size, defense, mindset, all good. but 3pt shooting is tough to pass up - i'm pretty sure that no matter how hard mardy works he'll never be as good a long-range bomber as gibson. then again, i might give mardy more of an edge as a floor general and ball handler, also very valuable. i guess both are unfinished products, so it will depend on who gets better at their strengths and becomes a more complete player.

as an aside, how lucky is dan gibson? the guy was a 2nd round pick - he could have ended up anywhere and never gotten his shot at the NBA, or played for a crappy team. instead he ended up as lebron's sidekick, gonna win a lot of games and get rich before he's through.

Boobie has played tough defense, guarding the likes of Billups and picking his pocket a number of times.

I kind of see him as "vintage" Flip Murray (who he also schooled in the Detroit series finale)... well, I don't know if you can call it vintage if he scored like a demon average 20+ppg for about 20 games to start a season a few years back...

The scouting report on him says he has poor PG skills.

It's interesting, but the Knicks could also use a deadeye confident shooter like Boobs. (Eddie House?!)

Too early to tell for both of them. We've seen flashes of what they can do but no one knows how much it will translate into the future.

Let keep in mind Kareem Rush had an unbelievable game to put the lakers in the finals when they lost to the pistons......

Matt Carroll, Kapona would be looking very similiar to the kid himself right now
