"After I got up off the floor, we all clapped," Thomas said. "There's no lying or denying that. We gambled and it paid off for us big-time. Had we not taken the gamble we took with Eddy, we would be sitting here in a very difficult spot. But the future is very bright for us now."

"we would be sitting here in a very difficult spot" - what does that mean?

the future wasn't bright before but after curry, it's bright now?

Big time? Give me a break. Yeah it will if lebron jumps ship thats about it. We are the 12th seed in an awful conference......

Still would rather haver Thomas/Coneley or Brewer, had curry not had that tip in the last game of the season we likely are sitting at the two spot

This all is correct. The only problem is IT should use ME in place of WE.
He was gambling with Knicks organization money and legacy, He was gambling with Eddy, Steph, Big Snuck, Jeffries, Steve, Roze, Mo, etc., and he will be wherever he will be next season. There are no WE involved any more just Isiah.
2006/2007 was filled with excuses and this mute the result for IT. 2007/2008 has no excuses left. Truth is coming.

What TRUTH would that be? The team is going to most likely be a .500 or slightly better team next year, even without any trades. After the 6-11 start this team was playing up and down and then after the injuries mostly down. I don't think it's a reach to expect that they'll be better going forward in Isiah's 2nd yr as coach.

We will all watch the next season to see answer to this question. If it will be .500 the status quo will stay put,
if it will be 33 again... well... it's up to Dolan, and if it will be 45-50 wins and play off - bravo IT.

Most interesting subplot No. 1: The Curry trade might not haunt them as much as everyone feared because (A) they might not be the worst team in the league, and (B) Chicago is struggling more than anyone thought (even me). Does this mean it was a good idea to sacrifice a lottery pick and $60 million for a center who doesn't rebound, takes nights off and has a life-threatening heart condition? Of course not. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being "short-sighted" and 10 being "apocalpyptic," the Curry trade looked like a 9.5 heading into the season ... but now we're nestled more in the 7.5-range.

You just killing the guy. He made just one "small" mistake. Is he? Or may be 2-3 mistakes. Who is counting this crap anyway. Give him a break. He is not a criminal or something...

i can't believe that it's being heralded as some huge victory that we *only* gave the bulls the #9 pick in a loaded draft. we avoided the absolute worst case scenario of that trade. we still put up a sucky record this year - much worse than IT expected when he made that trade. and IT's big GMing victory is that he *only* gave up a mid-lottery pick. wow.

That's not exactly how I translate what he said...

Let's break it down again he said

"HAD WE NOT TAKEN THE GAMBLE WE TOOK WITH EY WE'D BE SITTING IN A VERY DIFFICULT SPOT"

The underline first part of statement translates to "HAD WE NOT GIVEN UP 2 UNPROTECTED LOTTERY PICKS AND 2 2nd ROUND DRAFT PICKS the second part translates to WE'D BE SITTING IN A VERY DIFFICULT SPOT WITHOUT EY.

LOL @ I SAY UGH

I hate to break it to him but we're sitting in a very difficult spot with EY

I think you need to stop bringing up the heart ailment thing. He had one episode of heart palpitations, which can be caused by a lot of things not having to do with a congenital heart problem. He's played 2 seasons since and this past year he actually played more minutes than he ever has. It's time to drop that stuff at this point. Even Chicago's doctors admit they never said he had the heart problem. They just wanted to see if he had the markers in his DNA that would make him a likely candidate to one day develop a heart problem. They clearly stated that he DID NOT HAVE a congenital heart condition.

I think Isiah took too much of a risk, but he skated by on this one, cuz we have a force inside that few teams have and we weren't guaranteed of getting any other way. The Lottery is just that. It's a gamble. Just ask Memphis and Boston about that. What Isiah did was go and make sure he got a player he wanted and there's something to be said about that. If we had taken a chance on the draft and missed out on Oden and Durant, we'd be in a worse spot now than we are. Those 2 are the only big guys you can say may be better than Curry in the last 2 drafts.
