I kind of thought that he might be smallish for a 4 but it appears that he is quite adueqate size wise going against peers of his draft class. He seems like a very good match to go with Curry in terms of shot blocking defense rebounding etc...I don't know how many of you have seen him--but he has extremely long arms and he put on some bulk in the last year. I'm going to guess he's 6-8 235 with something like a 7-4--7-5 wingspan.

I found a nice video on the UMass site where they talk to the coach and they do a feature on Lasme. The Video Link is just under his picture and profile. It's a bit long before they actually get to the feature on him, but it's not that bad.

http://umassathletics.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/lasme_stephane00.html

From looking at him he's really slim for a PF. I don't know how he'd do in the pros unless he put on a good deal more muscle. He kind of reminds me of a slim Ben Wallace. He has the great timing and long arms you need but I can see him being pushed around in the NBA.

These aren't eye-popping stats for career highlight games;

•Scored 10 points, had seven blocks and five rebounds vs. Miami (1/2), came on with nine points, six blocks and all five boards in the second half.
• At Louisville (12/13), had six points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
• Had a marquee night against Boston College (12/2) where he scored a career-high 24 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the floor and 8-for-10 from the free throw line. Posted a double-double with 11 rebounds. Also added three blocked shots
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Look at his game log and look at the games he played against top competition.

The guy is a stud shot-blocker.

He averaged a double double this year with 5 blocks a game. This is a guy who I saw play many many times over the years. He's older almost 25 years old and has really fiulled out compared to what he was--maybe 200-205 in his first few years. He played with another very good post player in Reshaun Freeman who also averaged close to a double double--so there were a lot of points/opporutunities kind of taken away because of such a prolofic player he was paired with. In fact--if I had to *guess8 a ayear ago who was the pro prospect I would have said Freeman. Lasme put on some size last year--no doubt about it--yet kept his hops and some of the pure rawness of his overall game became more fluid. If there is a *Ben Wallace* type clone in this draft he is it. His body is strong--not as strong as Ben's but I think he will measure with longer arms which helps him play much bigger than 6-8. I don't know if Lasme would create an over compensation at the 4 with balkman and Lee for their particular skills.

Briggs,
I've never seen you play ball, but I'm guessing you could put up a double double with 5 blocks against Yale and Central Conn.

Lasme would be a sure 1st round pick, if not for his age. He is a nice player.

They don't make kids the same way anymore. Don't feel bad. The video doesn't justify this kid's skills.

That kid should stop wasting his time with all those dribbling tricks and develop a jumpshot and passing skills. With his handles, he should be able to get anywhere on the court he wants and could become a good PG.

In yesterday's drill, the quartet that worked out included two shot-blocking types, Stephane Lasme of UMass and Brandon Wallace of South Carolina, plus a pair of point guards - DaShaun Wood of Wright State, who was the Portsmouth Invitational MVP, and Bronx product Jamar Wilson of Albany, where he was the two-time America East Player of the Year.

Of the four, Lasme, 24 and born in Gabon, seems the most likely to be drafted, but 17th by the Nets is way high. The Knicks pick 23rd on the first round. Neither team has a second-rounder, but there always is the chance of trading down.

Lasme, the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, was second nationally with 5.1 blocks a game, despite his 6-8 size and power-forward position. Like Wilson, he needs work offensively.

"I'm just hungry for the ball. It came natural. I never really worked at it," said Lasme.

"Lasme's a very interesting character . . . he's a guy that I know most of the teams in the latter part of the first round are going to want to see," Stefanski said.
Perhaps Stephen Lasme will be a Knick?
