Knicks still need another swingman type that can defend. Bonzi has had attitude issues and injury issues, but the mofo still has all-star talent.
The knicks have a Houston connection with Steve Francis. He played well with yao and they have a connection. Francis also brings them a guy that is not afraid to score and go to the basket. That helps T-Mac.
The knicks could take back some vets like Howard and alston. Howard still can score inside and he could play that role off the bench for the knicks. Howard is a good passer and ball handler for his position. Dude is old but the knicks need him to provide leadership and just be that old guy that can give you a good 25 minutes of quality play. Alston can provide a change of pace at the point and 3pt shooting.
Knicks can actually trade channing for bonzi straight up. Would you guys do that? If Houston has a second rounder would that make it more appealing?
Involving Francis this might be the best way to get value for Francis via trade. If bonzi comes in hungry for his final chance at a decent payday, the knicks have a really good 2 way player on their hands. If Q comes back healthy then the knicks could start them both on occation.
bonzi's an enigma. dude looked great in the playoffs last year. but he hasn't scored 15 a game in this league for 5 years now and he's going to turn 31 before the season starts. i always liked him better as a sf than a sg but he's a 6'5" sf and don't you need more of a bruising defensive minded c to play with a sf like that?
i can’t see houston wanting francis. didn’t they get rid of him because he wouldn't defer to yao in the offense?
and even tho i was calling for frye's ouster this year, i'm now leaning more toward giving him another year. the guy really played like a totally different player as a rookie.
edit: forgot to add i thought howard looked bad in the playoffs against utah. they needed him to step up and he gave a lot of empty minutes. don't remember alston looking so good either.

bonzi did go on a rampage against the Spurs last year but he has issues. remember he went MIA on the Rockets at the end of their season? the guy is overweight and has work ethic problems. he's got talent no question but all the off the court stuff I think would make me stay away from him. ron artest isn't as bad as him IMO.

Wrinkle head is a good unselfish player. Wish the knicks had him instead of wrinkle lips.

Bonzai would fit perfect with our ball hogging guards and confused attitude.
I think Adleman, who resurected him in Sacremento will be his savior and he would be foolish to opt out, and the Rockets will likely give him another shot, er, I mean chance.
Talent for the sake of talent is not what we need anymore.
