The thing that separates us from them is they have it much better as a franchise in it's storied past. We have two championships and they have a lot more, not to mention the best won-loss record against us. They have more established players in they're history, they have more records set and we barely have anything that we can be really be proud of. The Lakers and even the bulls have better stories than we do as a franchise. Before jordan came along, the bulls were just an average basketball team and now six championships and a load of records later, we look like crap next to them.

I guess my answer to this is I'm not very impressed that the celtics are worse than us (for the moment). I just don't see it. They are a few stars away from knocking on the door again. With the kind of past we've had and the kind of money we spent, the New York Knicks should be right in the middle of the 'elite'! But we're not. Thanks to horrible ownership and management, and I mean one right after the other. The only reason we mean 'anything' at all is because our team is from New York City. If we were from Spokane, Washington, with this' kind of record? Forget it, we wouldn't matter at all. We might as well be in there with the Bobcats. Accept it or not, it's true. We stink and are in need of hero's.

Serious who cares about a franchise history whenitcomes to where you team is now??? No offense 4949 but you sound like a 15 or 16 year old kid. NOne of that means anything in terms of where there team is today as a fan in any sport.

You might be satisfied with that one win, or that little extra, in one game or one season, but reputation and the story of a franchise means everything. Without it, there's not a lot of pride and when you have no pride, or a record to be proud of, you can't afford to waste anything more resources on something that is just simply broke.

Are you sincerely happy with this team and all of the missed opportunites that we had, that we did not capitalize on 'through the years'? Thirty years ago, I would have thought for certain that we'd have a few more super, super stars and at least a few more championships for this City. I would be shocked' to find out what we'd end up as. Like I said, the only thing we have going for us right now is our name and we're lucky to have that as a start.

I think their situation is better. Thats how bad we are. At least they have a shot at a lottery talent while we trade away out picks for overrated semi busts every year.

Don't forget, five year overpaid contracts too.
