This should put the Oden pining to rest. He wouldn't have made it in NY anyway. Not with this:

After talking with confidants about Portland winning the No. 1 pick, Oden expressed relief that he was going to a smaller market. He never has been enamored with the bright lights and big city. He was born in Buffalo, raised in Indianapolis and had little appetite for the suffocating pressures of, say, Boston.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Oden, Randolph, Roy, Jack. If Oden starts off with a bang, thats a playoff team. As long as Randolph accepts a slightly lesser role and accepts team ball.

OT: ATL should come away from this draft with Noah & Conley/Acie Law. If they have to trade down to do it they should.

He may only being saying that since two small markets have the top two picks. Players say things to fit the situation.

Just like when you go to a job interview and you starting talking about all of the things you like that can help the company and how you want to help advance the company, etc... etc... This is no different.

If Oden was drafted by Boston, we'd hear how much he dreamed of playing for a team with Boston's history.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

agree completely...he's just playing chameleon here. A big market gets the #1 slot and you would have heard a different story.

The fact that he address Dan Patrick as sir, shows me a lot about the kids humbleness he would have made it anywhere. If we had Oden this year we would have won more games than we did with our lump of **** in the middle

Maybe he's not, but he damn well better get used to it. Tim Duncan never seemed to be a "Spotlight kinda guy" either, and look how that turned out.

Totally agreed. He said the same time during the final four on the radio when he and Durant were interviewed at some event. I think Durant was collecting an award or something. I was more surpise that Oden was more reserve and seem a little timid about the attention while Durant seem more easy going and relax (was joking alot). Even the talk show guys commented about it. Yep, Tim Duncan was the same way. I remember when they use to interview him after a Wake game, he would give 4 word answers. Nice to see he open up in the NBA.

So you think that if Boston got the #1 slot he would have said: "I dont want to go to Boston, there are too many people there...I'm scared"

I just cant reconcile playing at a big time school, being the #1 pick, and remaining on the tip of every fan's tongue and in the same breath say that you are not a "spotlight" kind of guy. Go work at the post office then.
