just when i was disappointed with some finales like "24" and "the office" and a little bit with " heroes", here comes "lost" showing all of them how it is done. i thought most of the season it was sputering along and at mid season i almost lost interest ( pun intended). then in the last month they turned it up into high gear. they started answering questions in clever ways and developed new ones that came in smoothly instead of awkward like in the beginning. then the finale, especially the very end, blew me AWAY! " lost" took the crown back as THE show to watch on tv. PERIOD.

Never got into Lost. 24 I thought lost some pop this year but Heroes is just phenomenal. I also enjoyed the cancelled shows like Jericho and The Black Donnellys. Too bad they are not coming back.

Jericho was okay but Black Donellys was just awful. What was with that narrator gimmick of the guy who wasn't a brother but was always showing up when they were planning stuff? Yuck.

Lost finale was really strong this year. 24 is a parody of itself. Heroes finale was a let-down. Why didn't Sylar just paint Hiro with the Sword??

^On the Black Donellys..I thought it was a fresh new way of story telling. I guess you either like it or you don't.

Narration, IMO, is typically a crutch that TV/Movie/Theatre writers use when they're being lazy or just plain don't know how to write. I take it as an insult to the viewer when being used to advance the story and answer questions. The best case i found of narration really working is in the moview The Big Lebowski. And it worked there because the narrator wasn't really a character in the story. He was more like the disembodied voice of the american spirit.

^Hmmm..I don't feel the same way. I guess it is the result of following "The Wonder Years".
