I have not seen this guy play but reading his bio, he looks like a good PF, with defensive capabilities. Anyone have any opinion on him?

not sure but with Morris alraedy a knick I'm not sure if that would be the wisest pick. They have Afflalo and Morris Almond going beyond our pick. I think we should pick one of them rather than Jason Who.

Agreed. Smith wouldn't add anything to what we already have up front. I'd much rather have Almond.

If we pick a Forward in the Guard-heavy second half of the first round, its going to be a physically imposing rebounder shot-blocker to put next to Curry. Jason Smith don't fit the bill.

I'd look at Sean Williams who is expected to drop because of character concerns, though I don't expect him to go as low as NBAdraft is showing him. College balls best shot-blocker, great offensive boards garbage-points type player. Plays above the rim and can also run the floor like a gazelle on the break. I don't know of any big man in this draft short of Oden or maybe Noah who fits our needs better, so if we can get him at 23? Worth taking the chance.

Though I hear Mister.Earl likes Avis Wyatt.

I like taking a chance on Williams too but am not sure about giving him guaranteed money. He is better as a second rounder. Make him prove himself. Bottomline, we need more picks.

Jason Smith is from Colorado State. Looks like a decent prospect but he is like Sean Williams-lite, without the off-court problems.

Where Williams ends up in the draft largely depends on the workouts. He shows a lack of effort and focus he drops to the middle-late 2nd round. He busts his rump, runs the floor hard, makes hustle plays, and looks like he wants to play in the NBA? No way an uber-athletic shot-blocker with a 7'5" wing-span drops into the second round. No way.

At this point I don't think we are going to pass on some of the sweet-shooting guards, especially not with our glut of forwards. But say our three or four top choices are picked? Then you have to take a chance on Williams. He's the kind of player that can have a real impact from the get-go. Where we are, right now, you have to take chances.

If he stays in and is there, Thomas will pick him for sure. Crittendon is his type of player. I don't think he will stay in the draft. I think he just want to test his value. I think the Knicks should think about Cook too. That guy has huge upside. I guess he feels that with Oden and Conley gone his stock could drop. LOL, the Knicks still need to draft Williams too. That guy upside is better than alot of those lottery guys. Truth be told if the Knick guards can stay healthy, SG/SF position maybe not be a great need. Getting Williams at 23 would still be a good draft. I think alot of quality of SG will not even be drafted.

Right on...just think of all the talent that would be missing from the league if anyone did.

don't the Knicks have a glut at the guard spots too? Marb, Fran, Nate, Q, Crawford, Collins? Take Fran out for buyout and maybe move Q to the 3 some of the times (which would limit JJSkinny and Balk at the SF spot)... still a LOT in the backcourt.

I guess I could have been more specific...we have a glut of forwards that we need to give playing time to in order to develop them as part of the core; Balkman, Lee, Jeffries, Frye and now possibly Morris. Thats a lot of bodies, and I doubt we add another young forward to that list.

At guard we are going to play Marbury (though his minutes should continue to go down a bit) and we are going to play Crawford. I want to see Collins get more PT, of course, because he could be part of that core too. Q played mostly at the 3 this season, and if he comes back from the surgery ready to play then you can add him to that list of forwards as well. There is time in there for Nate to play his energizing role off the bench. We don't have to play Franchise if he is still here, and if Collins and/or Nate step up to earn more PT, yes, he could follow Rose and Taylor out the door.

So I count two, maybe three core guards next to 4-5 core forwards. Problem is we have needs for both. A shot-blocker up front, a shooter in the back court, which means I wouldn't disqualify the possibility that we take a shot-blocking PF in this draft, I just don't think its likely if there is a jump-shooter like Almond, Belinelli or Young still on the board. Also wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up a point like Crittenton, but I guess that depends if Collins is viewed as the heir apparent.

fair enough. What I take out of it, and had already concluded before, is that the Knicks need to consolidate talent through a trade. Curry ain't going anywhere and I have soft spots for both Lee and Balk. I'd like to see Collins stay too. Everyone else is free game.
