Don Nelson told the media assembled at the Warriors practice facility in Oakland today that he's not ready to commit to coming back as Golden State's coach next season.

The Sporting Green's Janny Hu reports from Oakland that the Warriors coach said he wants to some to relax and reflect before making any decisions about his future. Nelson said he would help out with the team's preparations for the draft, which is on June 28.
Nelson said he'd like to have his decision made by July 1.

Said Nelson: "I think it was really important that I came here. I'm not so sure it's important that I stay on. I want to decide that and communicate with Mully about that. I'm very tired right now for sure. It just took a lot out of me. I'm going to chill out on Maui for awhile, my wife and I will talk about the future and where we want to go with our lives.

"I'm kind of anticipating coming back, but I'm not sure. Just whether I want to put my body and mind through another year or two. I'm not 66 anymore. I'm 67 now, and there's another life out there outside of basketball that is very enjoyable."

Honestly, I think Doc had an agreement with Ainge that he would tank the season and they would not fire him. That is the only explanation for the extension.

I think Nellie realizes his squad as currently constructed will give him a heart attack the way they carry themselves as proessionals.

If he don't need the money, thats pretty good way to go out.

THats a hard team to coach. They are emotional boneheads. Baron wants an extension now? Steph Jax is talented but volitile, Barnes is not that good and now fired his agent who got him the GS gig, and Richardson is too a first class bonehead.

Nellie needs his cuban money!
