nbadraft.net has us picking him with our first round pick. I don't watch much college hoops, and he's only a freshman, so I haven't seen him. I was wondering what the college fans had to say about his game and how you think he'll do in the nba.

Georgia Tech freshman guard Javaris Crittenton will declare for the draft but not sign with an agent, Yellow Jackets coach Paul Hewitt said Wednesday.

Crittenton's decision follows his classmate and teammate Thaddeus Young, who made the same declaration Tuesday.

Crittenton averaged a team-high 14.4 points and 5.8 assists for the Yellow Jackets, who finished 20-12 after losing to UNLV in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Yellow Jackets finished 8-8 in the ACC.

Crittenton is considered one of the better guards available but it's unclear where he would be in the first round, so testing the waters to see if he's a lock for a high draft pick makes sense.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Experts say that if he stays in school 2 more years (or maybe even one more) he would be a lottery lock. If the Knicks got him with our pick, I think it would be a good pick. He is a true PG, who unlike Marcus Williams from last year, actually plays defense. My only concern would be whether he is repetitive of Mardy Collins, who is also a big PG. Crittenton though is a much quicker player who will play more like a traditional quick pg even though he is 6'5".

He is a good tough player. He probably needs to stay a year cuz he is a little irratic. I like the dude though. The NBA draft.net profile is pretty accurate. He doesn't seem like a freshman I can tell you that. Kid needs another year though and he would be a lottery.

Thanks. Would I be correct in thinking that Crittenton is more the kind of player that could eventually replace Marbury as a starting pg than either Collins or Nate?

Want to elaborate DJ? If true, why hasn't he hired an agent?

I wasn't that impressed with Crittenton when I saw him this year against UVa. He got absolutely roasted by Singletary and was tentative on the offensive end. But I could see how he might be seen as a guy with a lot of raw potential and a high ceiling.

Save for his first pick with Ariza, Isiah hasn't gone for projects in the draft. Our picks have been "NBA ready" guys with lots of experience at the college level. But before workouts, hard to tell what anyone really thinks of the kid.

An intriguing prospect, and the more guards that enter the draft the better for us. If someone ahead of us takes a chance on Crittenton that means someone else might drop to us, like Acie Law or Morris Almond.

That's a good point. Picking this late and getting Law or Almond would be a successful outcome. Lately we've done pretty well in the second half of the first round.
