Has anyone noticed he constantly calls out other stars with exception to Kobe? I think he's a Laker part owner still so conflict of interest may be an issue but he really needs to get off the soap box of calling out other stars all the time. Tonight he called out Dirk saying his best friend Nash is an MVP and he isn't. While it may be true Nash has proven once again he is an MVP, Magic just makes it a point to call players out. Where has he been the past 2weeks, watching the Lakers get handled while being incognito?

Yeah Barkley and a few others do that to. It can be a little annoying.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I saw that at the half-time show last night. on one hand it's true, but at the same time it just seems like pouring salt into the wounds of dirk. I mean it's already over and done with.

When they are doing that kinda of commentary they are not "stars" they are media whores just like the rest of them. THey got cred so they can get away with it the rest of their lives.

They played big so they can talk down to anyone.

But Barkley don't have any championship bling does he?

I admired Magic the player but Magic the personality (talk show!) was just too much to take.

Speaking of Talk shows, is JohnnyCarsonBury still got his infomercial talk show running? I say "informercial" because the production company that produced Marbury's show paid for the time slot. Nice to have ego and money to air your own show and pay for it!

I don't think Magic and Chuck are "calling out" players. Chuck can sound rude, but it seems that Magic really does want the players he "calls out" to be successful, and he makes sense about it. People said Nash bashed his teammates, but Magic was quick to say he wasn't trying to bash them, but was trying to motivate them.

And Barkley was being honest when he said Kurt Thomas was not the answer for game 2.

But Kurt proved to play part of the Solution in Game 2

Partly, yes. I agree. But he was clearly not the reason the Suns won.

We get it you don't like Dirk and think he's soft.

Dirk has some things to work on and he's come to this conclusion himself. I personally didn't think he was the MVP of the season. I just didn't like the way Magic did it. You can call a player out and get the message across without too much disrespect. He did this to K.G. a few yrs back when K.G. was playing with essentially misfits getting bounced out of the first round by the Spurs all the time. Danny Ainge was on the set and fired back asking Magic who does K.G. really have on his team and the fact he puts up the numbers he does is incredible. Magic was like well he has to get it done. The following yr the Wolves trade for Sam and Spree and the Wolves go to the WCF. At that time Magic was on the set saying K.G. finally got some help and everyone is getting a chance to see how great of a player K.G. is/was. I was like Magic isn't this what Danny was saying to you all along?

I had no problem with Magic's comments... had they come after game two of the prior series. But last night, after Dirk already apologized for failing the franchise, they came across as piling on. I mean, however valid those comments were, it's not like they were insightful. This was lasts weeks news.

And I'm not a big Dirk fan. I'm not a fan of jump shooting "franchise" players period.

Summed up nicely what I was thinking. The "Look at what your best friend is doing and take notes on what you should have done" was over the top. I'm going to be a jerk for a hot second.......

If Dirk was Bird would it be ok with you if he were that "Franchise" player.

We gotta stop comparing these two. Bird was from another planet. Seriously, stats aside, Bird compares better with Magic than he does Dirk.

I wasn't trying to compare I just was wondering if you think Bird was a "jump shooting franchise player"?

I saw about 5 minutes of it recently. He had Adam Sandler on. Funny thing, he said something I totally agreed with, and maybe Stephone should take that advise. Sandler said something along the lines of "Charity giving should be low key, besides when you want other people to give."

No, I think Bird was an amazingly complete player. Not a lot of lift but he was an unbelievable finisher. He had ESP for the basket, I think could finish with either hand and would put unbelievable english on the ball to make these circus shots off the backboard. He could back his man down and post him up with a hook shot. He had great court sense. He knew when to throw the outlet pass and feed the break, he could lead the break, he could pass off the dribble, no-look behind his back or over his shoulder, etc. He was a very good rebounder, he'd dive on the floor for loose balls, he knew when to shoot and when to assist. It's really hard to imagine a more complete player given his limited athleticism.

Bird was way more than just a jumpshooter.

bird = could do anything. score outside, score insidde, defend, rebound, pass.

dirk = spot up shooter. great range and soft touch but can't even shoot off the dribble like bird could

I'm glad Magic spoke out earlier this year. Marbury started playing much better after that.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

No WE don't seem to get it.. I like dirk a lot. I just think he is soft and his style of play is not one that is going to lead his team to a title, but dirk is a good guy and a very good player...
