From Washington Post:

Brendan Haywood walking off the court before the game was over, raising his index finger to the crowd. Afterward, the nameplate above his locker room cubicle was taken down. If Haywood didn't remove it himself, the culprit had to be Coach Eddie Jordan, who rightly opted not to play his 7-footer one minute.

The problem with Haywood is, despite his occasional bursts of competent big-man play, his final stat line from this season resembled his old 00 number. He was the proverbial tease in the pivot, good for 15-20 decent games a year and another 60 where you just shake your head and think, "What I would do with that height." He has got to be gone by October. Bargain center at $5 million or not, to bring Haywood back at this juncture only serves to undermine his coach and the team. Brendan Todd Haywood has left the building.

They both make about 5 mil a yr make the swap zeke, we need more Native NewYorkers on the roster so family and friends can push them to give it there all.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Haywood would get more run in NY than big snacks period. A 7fter with ability and length

I would love this trade. But only if no picks are included.

Big Snacks is loved in the locker room.

Haywood is not.

Haywood went to Dudley HS in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Might be native to NY, as much as Jordan was to Brooklyn.

That's really the issue. JJ might not be doing much on the court, but he is not going to cause any problems in the lockerroom. Haywood is headcase who constantly got into fights with Etan Thomas because he wanted to be the fulltime starter. Is he really going to be happy playing behind Curry and maybe Malik Rose?

On pure talent, Haywood is an upgrade over JJ (not much of one though), but when you factor in that he could become a problem, is it really worth it? Plus, we already have Morris, who is going to need some PT.

JJ being loved in the locker room is one thing, but he has a very lax attitude about he approaches the game and clearly basketball isn't his main focus... he's just in it for the money. So, I'm not sure he's a good influence either.

He also was a bit of a malcontent in Seattle if I remember correctly.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

If nothing else, Jerome's contract runs a year longer than Haywood's.
I'd jump on that trade. I like Haywood, attitude asside. There's a better chance at some rewards on the hardwood than there is with Big Game.
Marv can find another player/mascot to root for...or maybe we can find a way to get James to Dallas just to make things interesting?

On a side note, this board - the one so infatuated with off court problems and club house influence - is the one that was screaming to bring back Q Woods. Irony?

I would rather have a guy who fighting teammates to play(haywood) than a guy who could care less about playing time JJ.

This is why LB wanted to change the culture here, guys who take the game serious. JJ doesn't care about the game , his actions on the court and bench shows that.

Most players that come out of North Carolina have an understanding of the game, or at least was exposed to it.

Haywood has shown me enough over the years that warrant him a spot on the knicks roster instead of JEROME JAMES AKA BIG SNACKS.

I agree that JJ does not seem to care and Haywood at least wants to play, but the question is whether Haywood is going to be a distraction and cancer on this team. Maybe he won't be one here, but you are running that risk. The fact that his contract runs a year less though is very attractive. For that reason alone, it might be worth doing the trade.

But would washington be interested in JJ even if they make the same amount of money? Seems to me that they could find someone else willing to take on Haywood and give them something more in return.

If that's the case, then I'm sure WAS would waive Haywood before taking Jerome.

i have a better solution - give jerome some burn! if he's gonna get 6 fouls, let him get them. he also blocks shots, rebounds, plays d, gives that hard foul to anyone daring to come into the lane, has a low-post game and a KILLER crossover!

and matt, plese do not even contemplate our beloved big game gettng his reputation tarnished by playing in dallas

I love this trade of Haywood for James (straight up no picks) but why would the Wiz do it?

OK fine, i'll swap 2nd rounders with them if need be. In a year we actually have our own #2.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

He was probably tired of Etan Thomas whoopin' his ass on a daily basis.

Kam , why would the wiz make the trade ?

Haywood is considered cancerous in the WIZ's Lockerroom maybe the reason.

Haywood is 1st of all competitive or he and Etan Wouldn't be fighting.

Now my question is what big man on the current knicks roster would fight another player for PT on the knicks ? Frye never! Big Snacks only if it meant "bigger snacks"

they would make the trade if they thought a change of scenery might help- obviously, if haywood has worn out his welcome with the coach, then he'll be on the block. James for Haywood- they're taking on one more year, but getting rid of someone they don't want- that might be worth $5mm to them.

But Haywood can at least play a little bit. We should pull the trigger if its there.

yup... if anything he only makes our young guys develop w/the feeling that you don't have to work at all on your game & you can still end up with a multi million dollar contract from the first sucker GM that comes along & believes in your talent... i want JJ out of here in the worst way... i don't care how well he's liked in the lockerroom... he's completely useless on this team except as comedy relief.
