Love his game and love his effort. Won't go to much into his strentghs because they are pretty obvious. STrong rebounder, relentless effort, good attitude. Could fit in on the 90's knicks without skipping a beat.

Unfortunately because he's teamed with Curry I think some of his flaws are going to start to come to the surface unless we find a SF that can offset. I really think our franchise guy needs to come at the SF spot. I just fear that because Curry and Lee don't really compliment each other we may be forced to trade Lee. Unless of course he can become a shotblocker or a jumpshooter or a defender. These are three obvious areas that need drastic improvement. I also feel that he needs to work on taking care of the ball. I don't know the numbers but I don't view him as a high turnover guy. But I do not feel confident when he has the ball down the stretch. He seems to have as many crucial turnovers as anyone on the team. This could be perception, but it's my perception. For him to truly help us I think defense needs to come first. We can work on the rest over time. I think he will definitely improve but without a jumpshot there is a definite ceiling. Not a bad ceiling. But a ceiling.

Lee is a solid all around talent. He is a great rebounder and solid finisher around the basket. Plays with a high iq and is a solid passer. He needs to improve his individual and help defense and jumpshooting. I don't think he will ever be a shot-blocker, but shot-blocking is not absolutely necessary IMO. We however do need him to use his talent to lock down his own man, which he should be able to do with strength development and good coaching. Lee is someone this team can grow with in the future and I would not want to trade him unless we get O'Neal for him. My ultimate hope is that both he and Balkman can develop jumpshots and compliment Curry's lack of defense and rebounding, with Balkman also being the primary shot-blocker.

this could be that "sell high" moment we missed out on with Frye

strengths: great instinctual rebounder & passing bigman... has good awareness when he's on the floor... awesome team first attitude... hustles all the time & never gives up on a play... great work ethic... terrific finisher around the basket & on tipins.

weaknesses: horrible rotation defender... lacks a jumpshot & fluidity off the dribble... too slow to guard most SF's & gets muscled down low by bigger PF's.

I think he can learn a medium range jumper. He's already a good foul shooter. His defense should improve as he's athletic, intelligent, has a good attitude and long arms.

I agree that he can learn. But remember it's one of the hardest things to learn and is the reason why he doesn't have one now.

Bip, it's not so much one of the hardest things to learn, but more so one of the hardest things, in all sports, just to be consistent at, and that includes free throw shooting. It's something you really got to work at starting at childhood, if you want to be really really really good, so that it just becomes instinctual. Lee definitely needs to add it though, which he can.

I totally agree he needs to work on the defense though. Not sure if he needs to beef up or try to do extensive and hardcore cardio and quickness drills to improve his quickness. I'm gonna say more so strength, b/c you can't have speed forever, especially if he's gonna have ankle problems and such, and also b/c it takes more strength to be a better rebounder. He definitely needs to hit the weights.

Look at David Lee. He is seriously NOT chiseled. He doesn't have ANY lateral quickness. He's a doughboy basically and seems lazy to me for not having developed more already. He's got to get laterally quick, or physically strong. He's neither at the moment. Has he changed his body at all since college? I'm not sold on how hard a worker David is OFF the court.

Great effort player all around.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.
